In fact, a 1999 Clarke after-action memo - the one top Clinton aide Sandy Berger later stole from the National Archives - identified national-security weaknesses so "glaring" that only sheer "luck" prevented a cataclysmic attack back then.
And, as Clarke told the 9/11 Commission publicly, there was nothing the Bush administration could have done that would have prevented the attacks.
Sure, he tells a different story now. But that, he admitted, is because of his opposition to the Iraq war, which he believes distracted from the War on Terror.
Secretary Rice was a lot more honest, explaining yesterday that there was no full-scale War on Terror "the way that we're fighting it now" - by either administration - before 9/11: "We just weren't organized as a country, either domestically or as a leader internationally."

Berger should be in a federal pen.
You would think the Clinton administration would have atleast had a mild interest in what was going on. Oh, I forgot, Bill was interested; but it was in Monica.
Face it...if your political opponent is willing to stuff National Archives documents down his pants and attempt to walk away with them, a FOIA request isn't going to accomplish a great deal.
Reference to Clarke by Bubba during his hissy fit is some of the evidence of that threat.
Gorelick ( and the 9/11 Commission Report Dietrich L. Snell was a Senior Counsel & Team Leader ) were put in charge of disseminate what information got seen by the full Commission.
So the woman who created the Wall which blocked the flow of information, was again put in charge of blocking information to the Commission which was charged with finding out why information got blocked.
He would send his hit dogs after her, or Hillary herself.
October suprise?
I believe Berger stole on three occasions. It could have been to take something out. Have it "signed and/or altered" by someone and put back or replaced. This was shortly after Rathergate. Forgery was not an option.
We just don't know, though. And we don't know if Berger was the only one doing it. FWIW, I'd consider anything on the subject in the Archives now suspect.
Why is this guy not in jail?
Wondering the same thing myself. )))shaking head(((

Get out of my brain! Actually, you articulated what has been bouncing around in my mind --- Let the Clintons and their dreadful loyalists go. Get them off the radar screen. They are blocking from our sight the very real dangers that threaten us.
We are in a struggle for our survival. Our cities, ports, water and food supplies, lay open to sabotage by an unseen enemy with a roll of Semtex, a vial of poison and a student visa.
Instead of taking any of this seriously our media obsesses over a lying psychopath and his repulsive, busy-body wife and revels in their sordid psychodrama which has become America's nightmare.
"In the name of G-d, GO!"
I wish to heaven that Chris Wallace had held Clinton's feet to the fire, just a little bit, by exploiting Clinton's claim, "We got closer to killing him than anybody else has since." How the hell would Clinton know WHO has gotten close to killing him or HOW close they got? He's not privy to that information.
A simple "How do you know that, sir?" would have sufficed.
Very true, I think his cult of personality has greatly diminished and is only supported by the Hollywood and liberal elite. Average Americans don't give much of a crap about him anymore. He should have shut up and let the MSM keep his legacy burning instead of jumping in and extinguishing it.
True. Our country has been waffling since Vietnam really. But with anything Muslim it has been Carter. Gotta be politically correct( and all that rot) however, that hasn't worked PERIOD. Let our fighting men and women fight.
There's an idea!
Truthfully, our country's fighting force has the will and the power and we are the baddest mf'ers in the valley. Just give the danged order and get out of the way.
