HARDY, Va. - If Republicans decide to replicate the style and substance of President Bush when nominating a potential successor in 2008, they will likely choose another conservative named George.
George Allen, that is, the junior senator from Virginia, who agrees with Bush on most major issues. On their few points of disagreement, such as immigration and campaign finance, Allen sides with the more conservative Republicans who will dominate primary election voting.
I like him very much I consider him a friend, Allen says of Bush in an interview with The Examiner. And I know a lot of people like to criticize him. We even have Republicans distancing themselves from him because his approval ratings are in the 30s.

(just what we need-- another "communicator")

There's the "conservative label" lie again.
A Jewish publication had reported on George's Grandparents earlier.
All of this was reported fully in FR.
Outstanding analysis.
Yes, he will become President and vist you on weekends just to remind you of that fact.
I don't know much about him, but aside from his somehwat poor performance over the racial issues (they're hard to deflect- it's just the charge that's remembered, UNLESS one let's out a Dem-like "I'm so angry and saddened by these smears..." type Grand, and I mean GRAND, denunciation of them. Full of righteous indignation etc), he has said some wonderful things. He needs practice. Speaking before Senators is MUCH different from speaking in front of the Hillary worshipping media. They hope to knock him off his Senate seat AND out of 2008. He could still be a great 2008 candidate, if he regains his confidence. The slip-ups are minor in the end.
I was really shocked by Sabato - he has some balls! I hope Allen is able to turn this around - Sabato has been completely unprofessional. This will be on the front page of the WashPost for 6 days like the Macaca story.
See #53. It's the name of a series. It's a rhetorical device...

You know, he may be unpopular and down in all these surveys, he adds. But I just dont think you kick a friend when theyre down.
The Examiner is doing a series of "Meet the Next President" with Democrats and Republicans - so far they did Kerry, McCain, Giuliani and a couple of others. They are not endorsing anyone.
How long before someone tells us how Mitt is the next Prez....? "
Well there is going to be a next President...I don't think it is Allen.
I suppose if I were betting, it would be Giuliani at this point.
A Senator. Right.
Is your friend John Kerry?
I post all the time...I've been here as long as you have.
"It was the Washington Post reporting on a Channel 9 (CBS affiliate) reporterette"
I stand corrected.
Running Newt in '08 would be like running Al Gore in '08. He's yesterday's news.
I saw it. Thanks. Any new polls out on how Allen is doing in his Senate race yet?

Somehow, we need to figure out if the list is accurate.
Check the record, pal...Webb was a Reagan man. Besides, the 11th commandment doesn't apply any longer as evidenced by the preponderance of those on this site trashing Republicans such as McCain, Graham, John Warner, Specter, Chafee, DeWine, Snowe, Collins, Shays, or anyone else not deemed "Bushleague" enough. My Reagan philosophy revolves around government being "the problem" as in "Democrats out of our wallets (and schools, property, etc.), Republicans out of our bedrooms (and drug cabinets, churches, etc.); and both of them out of our Constitution!"
