HARDY, Va. - If Republicans decide to replicate the style and substance of President Bush when nominating a potential successor in 2008, they will likely choose another conservative named George.
George Allen, that is, the junior senator from Virginia, who agrees with Bush on most major issues. On their few points of disagreement, such as immigration and campaign finance, Allen sides with the more conservative Republicans who will dominate primary election voting.
I like him very much I consider him a friend, Allen says of Bush in an interview with The Examiner. And I know a lot of people like to criticize him. We even have Republicans distancing themselves from him because his approval ratings are in the 30s.

My concern is not borne of the media storm but rather the amount of wincing I do when I hear the original sound bite. Will I support him if the is the nominee? Absolutely. And I'll work as hard for him as I did for GWB. But he stands little chance of pulling together the demographical support he will need to win. It was a Gary Hart moment for those old enough to remember "Monkey Business."
Still nope, for reasons of ideology far more than style.
George Allen for Senate.
Do you know what macaca meant before this flap? Did anyone there know what it meant? How many Americans know what it meant? If Allen had used monkey instead of macaca, would that have been a big deal? This is a manufactured smear job.

Spare me. I found it to be harmless. He was making fun of his opponent's political operative who was taping everything he said. The MSM and the Webb campaign had to research what this North African expression meant before they could express mock outrage. The fact that it sounded like Kaka was why it reasonated with those present.
I find it amazing how people can be manipulated by the MSM. You wince because they have conditioned you to respond that way.
What are you talking about, you freaking rino, Bob Dole was the next coming of reagan!!
/Sarcasm...
A few months ago an article was released where hillary admitted that the candidate she feared the most was george allen.
Look on the bright side, of all the '08 candidates allen is getting a sample of what the media will throw at them in '08. This way he'll be ready and the others will not. Better him learn how to deal with the entire media assault now than in '08.
How is huckabee on that list but not romney? Huckabee has no shot at the '08 spot, he's a complete liberal and the club for growth documents it well.
Weekly standard was no fan of bush either, if i recall correctly bill kristol(their editor) is a big mccain fan.
Nice to see someone else read breach of trust by dr tom. I wish more newt fans would read it so they could see the real picture of their 'hero'. Everytime i suggest it they go bezerk and accuse coburn of being a hack/rino... lol.. the irony of that. Tom coburn is the one person i think is the farthest from it.
This needs to be repeated over and over again. Sadly instead of closing ranks , a lot of pubbies are playing politics becuase of '08.
Your forgeting that in close senate races in virginia, 4-5 points has usually been the margin. Virginia is not that red.
John Warner took on Mark Warner in 1996 and won (when virginia was much redder(before the nova boom)) by 52-47, Allen won in 2000 against chuck robb by 52-48. I think a lot of people think that Virginia here is south carolina or utah.
So is wishing George Allen will become the next president.
Lol, sad but probably true. Clinton was very vunerable in 1996, and we blew it.
Who do you support? Get off the fence. Don't say you haven't decided. That's a cop-out--a Rat tactic (opposition for the sake of opposition, not because you have a better idea). All we know right now is that you think it's crazy to wish that Allen would be the next President, and that you favor the complete and indiscriminate legalization of drugs. I'm calling you out right now--who do you want to become the next President?
I support Jim Webb for the Senate and the Republican nominee, whomever that is, in the 2008 presidential race--(unless the Dem nominee happens to be Zell Miller and the Republicans cave and nominate someone like George Allen)
Dan Quayle? What did he do in office. I think Gore and Cheny were said to have been the hardest workers in office of recent times.
I knew it! You have been spouting the Webb campaign talking points since this morning. You sound more like a Rat troll than ever. You support the Rat Senate candidate and would help give control of the Senate over to the likes of Harry Reid, Robert Byrd and Ted "the Swimmer" Kennedy. Not only that, you don't have the guts to tell us who you WOULD support for President in 2008. Instead, you hide behind the name of Zell Miller, who you know has zero chance to be the Democratic nominee, and you refuse to name the specific Republican candidate that you would support.
First and foremost, Webb is a Rat. If you support him, you must be a Rat too.
