Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice yesterday accused Bill Clinton of making "flatly false" claims that the Bush administration didn't lift a finger to stop terrorism before the 9/11 attacks.
Rice hammered Clinton, who leveled his charges in a contentious weekend interview with Chris Wallace of Fox News Channel, for his claims that the Bush administration "did not try" to kill Osama bin Laden in the eight months they controlled the White House before the Sept. 11 attacks.
"The notion somehow for eight months the Bush administration sat there and didn't do that is just flatly false - and I think the 9/11 commission understood that," Rice said during a wide-ranging meeting with Post editors and reporters. "What we did in the eight months was at least as aggressive as what the Clinton administration did in the preceding years,"
Rice added. The secretary of state also sharply disputed Clinton's claim that he "left a comprehensive anti-terror strategy" for the incoming Bush team during the presidential transition in 2001. "We were not left a comprehensive strategy to fight al Qaeda," Rice responded during the hourlong session.
"I would just suggest that you go back and read the 9/11 commission report on the efforts of the Bush administration in the eight months - things like working to get an armed Predator [drone] that actually turned out to be extraordinarily important," Rice added.
She also said Clinton's claims that Richard Clarke - the White House anti-terror guru hyped by Clinton as the country's "best guy" - had been demoted by Bush were bogus. "Richard Clarke was the counterterrorism czar when 9/11 happened. And he left when he did not become deputy director of homeland security, some several months later," she said.

Wish Condi had come out YESTERDAY when everyone was watching this story.
Great article. The quotes from Richard Clark prove that Clinton was lying through his wagging finger (again).
Other than it being Slick Willy, his body language repeatedly said "LIAR" to me......
Glad someone is finally speaking out.
It boils down to one thing...Bill Clinton has always been a liar!
Can't trust a dang thing he says!
The story is dated yesterday. I admit no time is given.
There was a *song from the 1960's or '70's(?) that had the word "LIAR" repeated in the lyrics. Every time I see, think, or hear Klintoon that lyric pops into my head.
(*Sorry but I don't remember the song title or group.)
"flatly false"
She's too kind!
This was posted earlier if you want to see that thread, it's at http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1708393/posts
The group was Three Dog Night (somehow appropriate for Clinton).
And such legs she gives it!
We'll see if Bubba takes the bait and rips Condi.
W and his father have given Clinton more respect than any serial rapist deserved. It is about time this administration regarded Clinton as the criminal that his lifetime of behavior has shown him to be.
How did Chris Wallace keep from punching Clinton in the mouth?
I dont argue very often, it serves no purpose, but when a man get in my face and starts jabbing me with his finger he better be ready to go to fist city.
To see this type of performance from a former President over being asked a simple question was astounding.
What I would like to see is Hillary asked a few tough questions. I would like to see her before a hostile interviewer. This crap of making deals before interviews to get softball questions the respondent has had time to prepare for is Bull.
The Castaway's "Liar, Liar"
Chorus : Liar, liar, pants on fire
Your nose is longer than a telephone wire
Ask me, baby, why I'm sad
You've been out all night, know you've been bad
Don't tell me different, know it's a lie
Come kill me, honey, see how I cry
Why must you hurt me, do what you do
Listen here, girl, can't you see I love you
Make a little effort, try to be true
I'll be happy, not so blue
Chorus
If you keep on tellin' me those lies
Still goin' out with other guys
There'll come a day I'll be gone
Take my advice, won't be long
When that day comes, won't be mad
Be free of you, but I'll still be sad
In spite of your cheatin', still love you so
I'll be unhappy if I let you go
Chorus
Excellent, Condi! She did an outstanding job of telling the truth for each of Slick's lies, one by one. I love it when BOTH sides of the stories are shown: the Clintons' side and the true side.
Awww, geeze Louise... Please don't ruin my memories of Three Dog Night by linking them to that.... that... that former president.
