No Terror

After the terrorist bombing in Bali in 2002, one man reacted by giving up traveling. Three years later, he finally took his family for a holiday in Bali, together with 50 tourists from Newcastle, Australia. The trip ended in tragedy when his family was caught in a suicide bombing at a café on Jimbaran Beach.

From New York to Indonesia, warnings and threats of terrorist attacks continue. Terrorism derives its sting by exporting fear. No one feels safe.

In Psalm 31, David was in the grip of surrounding threats that terrorized both his reputation and his life. He wrote, “Fear is on every side,” and said, “They scheme to take away my life” (v.13).

When everything seemed bleakest, David cried in despair, “I trust in You, O Lord” (v.14). He began to find peace when he acknowledged, “My times are in Your hand” (v.15).

In our world, perfect safety is not possible. But David’s God is our God. Though our earthly security may be threatened, we can never lose God’s eternal, unfailing love.

To those who trust in the Lord, David wrote these hopefilled words: “[The Lord] shall strengthen your heart” (v.24). When we place our times in His hand, we can exchange the fear of terror for peace and praise. —Albert Lee

I've always thought it would be fun to take the AmTrak - not so sure now, Amy! LOL!

Lori, the cruise and your time in Alaska sounds wonderful.

Gracie, all I can say is you must be pretty tough to make a long trip on a motorcycle! Sounds like yours was quite an adventure! Mr.B used to have a motorcycle, and I made ONE trip with him!(only 55 miles LOL) Ohhhhh, I was never so glad to put my feet on the ground again as when we *got there*! My first time and the last time I rode on the back of a motorcycle!

Thanks for the interesting and entertaining thread today! We don't really take many long vacations - both of us enjoy little weekends away, though.

I didn't go on vacation this Summer.

But last Summer I went to see my Brother & Fam for 2 weeks including 4th of July!

It was so fun & relaxing but still jam packed with activity.

The relaxation portion... was from a stressful time I had gone through prior to the vacation.

Some activities: 2 plays(including one a Nephew was in.); shopping;sightseeing;talking;laughing;catching up on Fam news;a parade;fireworks;a craft fair; a tour of where my Bro works;movies;eating well both at there home and out & about. It is There/then that I first tasted and liked buffalo burger. Attended base ball games etc...

I really love my Bro and Fam! Can't tell by looking or hearing us that He is 10 years my senior! Yes, You read right, 10 years!!!!!!!!!!

As for this past Spring , I had a Dear Friend from College Here to visit.

And this Summer, a Dear H.S. Friend.

I live 1/2 hour from a major metropolitan city...Tourist attraction so even when I don't get to travel vacation type stuff is just a stones throw away!

I have traveled a lot though...By Plane;train;car;bus;ferry boat to 38 of 50 States and also Canada & Mexico thus far.
