The Good Life At Gitmo
ON the military plane back from America's most fa mous terrorist holding pen, the in-flight film was "V for Vendetta," a screed that tries to justify terrorism. It was a fitting end to a surreal, military-sponsored trip.
The Pentagon seemed to be hoping to disarm its critics by showing them how well it cares for captured terrorists. The trip was more alarming than disarming. I spent several hours with Rear Adm. Harry B. Harris Jr., who heads the joint task force that houses and interrogates the detainees. (The military isn't allowed to call them "prisoners.")
Harris, a distinguished Navy veteran who was born in Japan and educated at Annapolis and Harvard, is a serious man trying to do a politically impossible job. I spoke with him at length, and with a dozen other officers and guards, and visited three different detention blocks.
The high-minded critics who complain about torture are wrong. We are far too soft on these guys - and, as a result, aren't getting the valuable intelligence we need to save American lives.
The politically correct regulations are unbelievable. Detainees are entitled to a full eight hours sleep and can't be woken up for interrogations. They enjoy three meals and five prayers per day, without interruption. They are entitled to a minimum of two hours of outdoor recreation per day.

And if EIGHT YEARS of Clinton trying admittedly accomplished nothing, how then can any Democrat contend that Bush should have gotten more done in seven and a half months then Clinton could in eight years of pulling out all the stops, and trying and failing? THAT is just plain STUPID and defies ALL possible logic and common sense.
He meant "make your bones"...a mob term.

BTW, i'm sure you know Murtha got H.W. to pull out of Iraq 1 also... after pushing so hard for it in the beginning.
;)
I believe the law about assassinations applies to foreign heads of state, not terrorists.
Richard Miniter: "One of the big myths about the Clinton years is that no one knew about bin Laden until Sept. 11, 2001. In fact, the bin Laden threat was recognized at the highest levels of the Clinton administration as early as 1993."
I saw Chris on Fox later when he said the smirk was just surprise at Clinton's reaction. He was shocked that Clinton came at him like he did, jabbing the paperwork he (Chris) was holding.
And from listening to Clinton and his rant Sunday Morning, I guess "TRYING" is the new "ACCOMPLISHING". Interresting.
First of all, we have BJ on tape saying they offered OBL.
Second, Clarke's lucky O'Neill's not here.
Paging Buzz Patterson.
Gotta go. Maybe see you in the lounge.
Bill Clinton criticizes Bush administration, Joe Lieberman for going to war in Iraq rather than pursuing the Al Qaeda leaders responsible for 9/11
August 16, 2006
From ABC News:
"Why was Iraq deemed to be seven times more important than finding the al Qaeda leaders for the last five years?"Taking a break from his work at the XVI International AIDS Conference in Toronto on Monday, former President Clinton warned Republicans not to politicize the London terror arrests, slammed Sen. Joe Lieberman, whom he campaigned for just a couple weeks ago, and tackled some of the controversies surrounding his work to fight AIDS.
"I don't think the thought in that London bomb plot has any bearing on our Iraq policy," Clinton said.
"The Republicans should be very careful in trying to play politics with this London airport thing, because they're going to have a hard time with the facts."
Clinton said that the London terror plot had raised two questions about the Republicans' political strategy.
"They seem to be anxious to tie it to al Qaeda.
If that's true, how come we got seven times as many troops in Iraq as in Afghanistan?" he said. "Why have we imperiled President [Hamid] Karzai's rule and allowed the Taliban to come back into the southern part of Afghanistan? Why was Iraq deemed to be seven times more important than finding the al Qaeda leaders for the last five years?"
:)
thx
Nope, but it makes sense. Murtha is a cut n' run traitor, always has been.
And that would mean "FAILING" is the new "SUCCEDING". I'm so glad we have Clinton to come on and educate all of us on the reality that the 90's were as though we weren't also here paying attention to what was going on. What a joke.
That's veddy intedestink!
See ya Roc.
And remember from same interview: "I tried and failed" (his own words)
Guess that makes him worthy of Mt. Rushmore in his opinion.
Excellent! That's a keeper. Thank you. :)
