"Pebbles"

Eyes like shiny pebbles on the beach
Curious about all I see and is within my reach
Able to climb the Upstairs steps, though one at a time
I'll be able to climb them faster when I'm in my prime!

Though for now I'll focus on closer, smaller Conquests
Like climbing to the top of the Curtains, a most trying test
I make it up just a little bit higher each time I climb!

Yet, My Humans haven't discovered any evidence of the crime
They'd rather have me climbing up the slick, plump Comforter of their bed
And have me close my eyes up close beside My Pretty One's head

It's odd that they haven't figured out that Night Time is when Kittens play
It's fun to poke around and explore, then nap while they're away
I'm just an energetic and curious Kitten, hardly a Rebel
Which might just be the reason My Humans call me "Pebbles"

That is so sweet. Every time I read one of your poems I want to go get a cat. I miss having one around the house.

What an adorable kitten..Thank you Jack for another sweet poem...

It brought back memories of the sound of drapes tearing on a glass window wall of drapes..Sassy the First had done the deed..I just left them pullled back and never mentioned the need for new drapes..LOL It worked out great as the glass was tinted and the tree outside provided shade in the early morning.

It looks as though we're on a parallel track, Jack!

I also have a poem named "Pebbles."

Pebbles

God gives us broken gravel,
A world that hurts to touch.
We tend to show ingratitude,
This doesn’t seem so much.

And as we go about our work,
And strive to see the point,
It seems we end up getting,
More gravel in each joint.

We bump about and break them,
And grind them into dust.
We really wouldn’t touch them,
Except we find we must.

They’re all around us everywhere,
Our burdens on this Earth,
We trudge and trek the rocky path,
That started with our birth.

At long last it is ended,
The final day arrives,
We end with pretty shining stones,
To decorate our lives.

For this is what it’s been about,
The changes that we make,
Are to the roughness we wear off,
That’s all for Heaven’s sake.

So smile and struggle onward,
Your life will take some grit.
God has some expectations,
What will become of it?

Bear up and hoist the burden,
The effort is worthwhile,
For when you go back home again,
You will be dressed in style.
