US senators deny war triggers terrorism

Senior Republicans in the United States are playing down a secret report that has found the war in Iraq has increased the global terrorist threat.

The White House says its "war on terror" is making things safer but the top-level National Intelligence Estimate reportedly concludes the invasion of Iraq is actually increasing the terrorist threat.

The estimate, which is titled Trends in Global Terrorism: Implications for the United States, is based on analysis of all 16 US intelligence agencies.

Republican Senator John McCain says terrorists do not need motivation from the war to attack the US.

"I think that it's obvious that the difficulties we've experienced in Iraq have certainly emboldened - lack of success always does that," he said.

"But I would also argue that these people didn't need any motivation to attack us on September 11th."

The White House, while reiterating its traditional stance of not commenting on classified reports, says a report by the New York Times of the contents of the estimate "isn't representative of the complete document".

"We've always said that the terrorists are determined. Keeping the pressure on and staying on the offense is the best way to win the war on terror," a White House spokesman added.

But Democratic Senator Edward Kennedy says the document completely undermines President George W Bush's arguments about Iraq.

"This intelligence document should put the final nail in the coffin for President Bush's phoney argument about the Iraq war," he said.

"The fact that we need a new direction in Iraq to really win the war on terror and make Americans safer could not be clearer or more urgent, yet this administration stubbornly clings to a failed 'stay-the-course' strategy."

I'm sure the Normandy invasion increased the Nazi threat as well. Sigh.....

Of courxe it has triggered more attacks. We wouldn't be doing our job if it hadn't.

Everytime they attack they expose themselves and die by the dozens. Why don't we compare the rate of death of terrorists with allies.

More Mid East states have joined the war against terrorists.

We have more anti-terrorist armies now than ever before, including 200,000 new iraqi troops.

Every terrorist that attacks now was always a terrorist before, they just hadn;t attacked yet.

We have to bring this war to a head before we can kill the snakes.

It is not the war in Iraq that triggers terrorism. It is the pass and encouragement the jihadists get from Western media. Why doesn't anyone get this? They have become experts at playing the press. If anyone other than the terrorists is guilty of prolonging this war, upping jihadist recruitment, and thus causing the unnecessary deaths of thousands it is the leftist press!

Yes, Fur Shur it attracted all sorts of heavily armed SS men to the vicinity of Normandy.

And think of those islands full of Japanese ~ landing troops on them drew them to the beach.

Does anyone get the feeling this deal is another part of the Mary McCarthy thing this last April?

The NYT spies have been holding this one back waiting for a propitious moment, but the fact they don't have the latest "monthly revision", and are relying on April, pretty much gives away their source.

There can be little doubt that ol'gal is in some deep trouble ~ and this story proves that it's long overdue for the Justice Department to get a warrant for her arrest.

""This intelligence document should put the final nail in the coffin for President Bush's phoney argument about the Iraq war," Kennedy said.

Hey swimmer, when will we see your final nail? It is LONG overdue. If you had an original thought that you could articulate in the last 25 years, your statements may mean something.

"The fact that we need a new direction in Iraq to really win the war on terror and make Americans safer could not be clearer or more urgent, yet this administration stubbornly clings to a failed 'stay-the-course' strategy."

So according to the logic of the Hero of Chappaquiddick,
we should disband or redeploy the Washington. D.C. Police Dept., because violent crime has actually INCREASED there in the last 5 years. Why, those mean baton-wielding cops are just provoking many otherwise peaceful and law-abiding citizens into embracing a life of crime.
Senator Teddy, you're no Jack Kennedy! Heck, you're not even a George Kennedy...

Kennedy and his staff are so stupid they don't realize that something published in April is "old news" and may also be closely related to Mary McCarthy, the CIA spy unmasked by former Director Gross.

Apparantly it never occurred to them that April this year was a really big month in the "outed spy" business ~ or, maybe they're a bunch of stoners who can't remember that far back.

"But Democratic Senator Edward Kennedy says the document completely undermines President George W Bush's arguments about Iraq."

Of course the report also undermines our argument that Ted s hand holds the bottle he drinks from, according to Ted its actually the bottle attacking him as he tries to push it away as it finds its way to his corpulant mouth!

The greatest insult is that the Dems expect ordinary Americans to believe this dribble? This is amusing logic. According to the Dimwit theory of reality there is no gravity, the Earth simply sucks. Perhaps this explains Democrap fascination with Oral sex and Slick Willys need for hose vacuum.

Every time Ted Kennedy speaks publically he seems to undermine the concept that one has to be smart to get a degree from Harvard.

[...the top-level National Intelligence Estimate reportedly concludes the invasion of Iraq is actually increasing the terrorist threat.]

Does anyone with a working brain in their head actually BELIEVE the claims that the report concludes this?

1) The record for honesty (much less accuracy) from Big Journalism when they're "informing" the public about some secret information of a political nature from an anonymous source is appalling. We've gotten so many news stories in the last few years which were supposed to make Bush look bad but turned out to be nothing but fabrication, that the smart money is that this is just one more piece of dung for the ever expanding pile of BS from people who make their living selling propaganda.

2) Comprehensive government reports are always a product of committees and they're so full of CYA from everyone involved that no clear, unambiguous or unqualified conclusions ever come from them. For a any government report to simply come to the type of conclusion we're being told it has is unthinkable.

3) Those who condemn the idea of engaging the Jihadists in war for fear of making them mad are not only foolish but immoral. If they got their way they'd keep their sorry asses relatively safe for a few more years until they woke up one morning and found themselves, along with the rest of us, forced to chose between conversion to a life full of nothing but pious Allah worship according to what their new theocratic government demanded or have their head chopped off.

If the IRAQ WAR has triggered TERRORISM then what triggered the '93 bombing of the WTC or the 2000 attack on the USS COLE and that "LITTLE" ACT OF WAR called 911???

Dims live in that world between shadow and superstition........
