Flood made Britain into an island 'in 24 hours'

Britain may have become an island after a Biblical-style flood split it from Europe in less than 24 hours, according to new geological research.
The flood would have taken place between 400,000 and 200,000 years ago, sweeping away hills between Britain and what is now France.
The theory could rewrite British prehistory, as current text-books teach that Britain - once a peninsula of continental Europe - split from the great land mass after a long process of erosion and rises in sea levels.
However, surveys of the Channel bed using new sonar techniques have revealed the remains of a huge valley, running south-west from the Strait of Dover.
The sonar survey, led by Sanjeev Gupta, from Imperial College, London, uncovered deep bowls, scour marks and piles of rubble on the sea bed that may have been caused by a torrent of water.
Dr Gupta said in a paper published at an academic conference: "In places, this valley is more than seven miles wide and 170 ft deep, with vertical sides. Its nearest geological parallels are found not on Earth but in the monumental flood terrains of the planet Mars.
"This suggests the valley was created by a catastrophic flood following the breaching of the Dover Strait and the sudden release of water from a giant lake to the north."
According to Dr Gupta's theory, France and Britain would have been linked by a high ridge of chalk hills, running roughly between Dover and Calais. To the north would have been a freshwater lake, fed by rivers, and deepened over thousands of years.
The lake, hundreds of feet above sea level, finally overflowed the chalk ridge and swept down towards the Atlantic. The water washed away the soft chalk hills and left the British Isles a separate land mass.
Dr Gupta's work is outlined in his book Homo Britannicus: the Incredible Story of Human Life in Britain, to be published next week.
Hmm. Like the flooding of the Euxine Sea. And maybe the Gulf of Mexico.

No doubt Tolkien was influenced by such tales. I recall reading that he'd stated that "Middle-Earth is Europe". Similarly, the entire Hyborian Age in which Robert E. Howard's Conan the Barbarian operated was set in a pre-Europe, which had come into being after two cataclysms, one which destroyed Atlantis and another which further altered the landscape.

Clearly, such a process took billions of years, regardless of the evidence against such an assertion.
That “notion” had no Biblical support, unlike Noah and the Flood.
G-d must have created them, and then put them there, which is both special creation and special delivery.
Because they evolved there and they're not too good at swimming.
You're forgetting this minor detail called Noah's Flood. If this truly was a global flood, the kangaroos would have to swim to the Middle East, get on the boat, get off the boat, and swim back to Australia. Unless you think God miraculously re-delivered them to save them the travel time.
You might point out to God that he forget to put the opossum back with the rest of the marsupials a few thousand years ago.
The braided pattern is apparently also what is seen in Permian strata at the mass extinction point. The thought is that the massive die-off of land vegetation caused extreme erosion and allowed the braided stream pattern to appear. I suppose braided streams only occur when the water is able to cut through the soil because nothing holds it together or when it is rushing through with such force it simply uproots all vegetation in its way. I'm sure geologists can tell the difference.
Nah, Noah's Flood took 40 days, this took a mere day. Plus it doesn't fit the pattern you'd see in Noah's flood with water, water everywhere. Here we have a volume of water moving from point A to point B, with Noah's flood you'd have water going every which-way and all terrain massively eroded. We simply don't see this. Additionally, this event can be clearly localized, and other strata don't show the same pattern seen here, with many clearly being laid down above land or in quiet streams and swamps.
Whatever happened, we know that if Jack Bauer was involved many terrorists died that day.
There's only one scientific model that predicts evidence of huge water catastophes on a scale far larger than any we've experienced in recorded history. And it's not evolution, it's not even intelligent design, it's creation.
Creation says there was one global flood. Now that we are repeatedly finding evidence of these phenomenally huge water catastrophes, shouldn't we be looking a little closer at the timing?
