Bill Clinton: We Did Nothing Wrong
Despite his impeachment, Gennifer Flowers, Whitewater and the other problems that have beset Bill Clintons political career, the former president still maintains he did nothing wrong.
During a wide-ranging interview with David Remnick of The New Yorker magazine excerpted earlier on NewsMax.com Clinton started to talk about Whitewater, about Kenneth Starr, about how allowing the appointment of a special prosecutor had been the worst decision of his presidency, Remnick writes.
He talked about old enemies in Arkansas, about the Resolution Trust Corporation, about Gennifer Flowers, about Susan Schmidt of the Washington Post. Despite Clintons claims he is not looking back, you could see just how deeply he still feels the attacks of the late 90s, Remnick disclosed. He noted Clintons anger is palpable as his carotid artery seemed to inflate like a jammed garden hose as these topics were discussed.
But when asked if he thought it would be unbearable to go through all of it again if Hillary ran for president in 2008, Clinton replied: I dont care, because we know we did nothing wrong.
Surprisingly some of Clintons closest supporters think he has more to blame than the so-called Clinton haters.
Remnick quoted one of Clintons closest aides, former Chief of Staff Leon Panetta, regarding Clintons state of denial:
The method he uses to live with himself is to make a clear and precise argument that this was something that others had done to him and not that he had done to himself.
Because of his brainpower, he can create a logic for anything.
But deep down he would be such a good person if he could just accept the fact that he screwed up and made mistakes, and move on.
But didn't Billy Jeff spend eight years "doing the work of the American people"?
In which case, we must be the laziest, most dissolute people on the face of the Earth.
He sounds exactly like Captain Queeg.
That may be true, though I do see many women protesting against them. There are many women on this site who work actively against the Dems, yet people like you can't acknowledge that.
Please tell me what party you support so I can (in my uninformed way) check out your candidates.
"Jeepers! With all the negatives, how did this jerk got to be President in the first place?"
Think back. Bush the 1st said "read my lips - no new taxes." Then he agreed with Congress to raise taxes.
And along came H. Ross Perot. And along came a slick talking Southerner.
And America fell for the flip charts, and for the slick talk.
That is how. Solution:
Avoid the 3rd party deadend. And avoid slick talk.
Come to think of it. That was before FR. Had that election year played on FR it would have been fascinating to observe.
FR used to have plenty of (impractical) 3rd party ranters, so I imagine Perot would have lured much support here.
And Bush the 1st was essentially what is now defined as a rino, since abandonement of Reagan's 11th Commandment.
Clinton would probably have gained a surprising number of supporters on FR.
"We did nothing wrong..."
What they did was NOTHING...at least when it came to fighting terrorism.
What a stupid question. I guess you want to attack me in some way. I am a Christian Conservative. What on earth would make a difference? The number of liberal women speaks for itself. I did not make them up. Women are a problem. Go ahead and attack.
No attack necessary.
Ross Perot
His "Read my lips..." did him in. He shouldn't have trusted the Democrats to hold up their end of promise.
"Well you see the GOP needed to be taught a lesson. And so the vote was split between a so-so Republican and a third party lunatic. As has been pointed out BJC never got 50% of the vote."
You are correct. That was the exact reason many Perot supporters I know gave for voting for him. "We want to send politicians in DC a message." WTH! was then and still is my thoughts and opinion.
Well thank you for paying attention. We need more folks like you.
"well, he raised 7.5 billion from his rich friends...to fight global warming, help poor people, etc..."
and then there is THIS to consider...

I was only a year old, but from what I've read I'd have to agree.
FIXED!
That is exactly the situation because Bush has kept them from power. It is all about power for them. The Dems care more about regaining power than they do about the country.
Ross Perot came along and helped get him the Presidency.
People also forget that Carter had signed legislation in 1980 regarding S&Ls that ended up helping a ton if them collapse, so all through Reagan and Bush 1 we had to pay off the S&L crisis.
Though it was a Democrat fault, the under educated people didn't know better and took it all out on who was in office.
Still, third party conservatives threw votes away on Ross Perot and gave us Clinton.
I hear ya, but I doubt you'll change any minds. Don't alienate yourself. Be tactful and relize some people are just slow.
One rule of thumb I always think about with issues like this, is that not everyone saw the divinity of Jesus on this earth. We can't expect to have much better of a batting average.
Despite my poor wording, I'm glad you agreed with the 62 38% comments.
I do wonder about the child demographic. It would be interesting to know.
