""since it had both feathers and a bird-like wishbone, along with classic reptilian features of a long bony tail, claws and teeth.""

....because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: -II Thess.2:1

So, I guess the scientists secretly built fake fossils with feathers, wishbone, claws and teeth just to trick everybody?

It's been done before.

Very interesting. Like bi-wing plane designs evolved into mono-wing designs? Perhaps these critters used all four limbs for flight because they had not evolved enough strenght and power to generate lift with just one pair of limbs.

for common sense would tell anyone a cow can't have a pig and a fish can't have a dinosaur

....and the same common sense would tell you that a miniature toy poodle couldn't be the same species as a 300 pound Bull Mastiff either - but it is. And neither breed existed a thousand years ago. I don't recall God coming down from the heavens and "creating" either one of them. Did I miss that?

There is no possible way for flying birds to have evolved, period. A flying bird needs a baker's dozen highly specialized systems including a light bone structure, flowthrough lungs, high-capacity heart, flight feathers, specialized balance parameters, tail, a beak, and every bit of that would be anti-conducive to survival until the day the whole thing came together. The chance of all that evolving is zero.

Clearly, birds were planted here by aliens from the planet Koosbane.

"But some people think that felt gravity was less during the time the earth orbited Uranus. :)"

Maybe because it's still early, but I always laugh when "that" planet is mentioned. There was a funny Futurama where they were talking about how "that" planet was renamed. The question was then raised as to the new name....Urrectum. 8^0

So you truly believe that fossil evidence is a "strong delusion"? Well that's one way of dealing with messy little facts you don't want to acknowledge. Just write it off as a delusion.

I believe that same passage was used to "disprove" Galileo in the Middle Ages.

Some things never change.

Ping-worthy, or passe?

Good article. Thread's already gunked up by 'noids, but it's still early. I'm cranking up the ping machine.

What everyone doesn't know is that an animal cannot fly once it gets over around 35 lbs. so they have to come up with "glider" theories, etc. But as the article says, everyone tries to fit what they find into their own paradigms. Fact is, things could have been different back then on levels many of us haven't even considered - yet.

One astronomer has floated the idea that the reason we see red shift in distant galaxies is not because they are travelling away from us, but because time travels at a slower speed there. It could be false, but is it really any more far fetched than string theory or so many other hypotheses that have been floated?

We don't know what we don't know.

You're reaching too far to make a point. A dog is a dog. A fish isn't a dinosaur.
I'm still in common sense.

I'm getting confused. Am I walking wrong?? Should I be on all fours?? I got 10 fingers and 10 toes. Should I be walking on my hands. My head seem so heavy up there.

Maybe only men should be walking on their hands. That would help explain the "they think with their ......".

:-)

Actually... no it isn't. All of those qualities you mention can happen over a relatively short period of time. Bird groups that have been geographically separated from their natural environment have had noticeable physical changes take place. The Nene from Hawaii (which is my favorite example). It looks very similar to a Canadian goose but it has feet better suited for walking on rocks and it doesn't fly anymore. All of this happened in a relatively short period of time (thousands of years). Plus... the Nene doesn't fly.

Given enough generations a number of these traits you mention could and would take place.

Of course if you do not believe me, go outside and take a look around. Their existence is the proof.

Do you have any evidence to support your claims?

shhhh, tom, dont wake the evos, they get cranky when common sense is used....

Do you have evidence that Ted Holden's claims are accurate?

(let me warm up the handy dandy evolutionism taffy puller machine, so we can just strettttttttttttch the theory to make this fit too....)

Are you suggesting that the theory of evolution must be "stretched" to accomidate this find? If so, please explain why.

You are right, shitzu's aren't dogs, they are more like tribbles.
