for common sense would tell anyone a cow can't have a pig and a fish can't have a dinosaur

....and the same common sense would tell you that a miniature toy poodle couldn't be the same species as a 300 pound Bull Mastiff either - but it is. And neither breed existed a thousand years ago. I don't recall God coming down from the heavens and "creating" either one of them. Did I miss that?
