British minister infuriates Muslims By ASSOCIATED PRESS LONDON
Britain's top law-and-order official warned Muslim parents on Wednesday to watch their children closely for signs of extremism.
Home Secretary John Reid told an audience of Muslims in London that they must do their part in a "battle of values," the Home Office said.
Aug. 15 feature: British Muslims blame extremism on Tony Blair's foreign policy Reid's words infuriated an angry listener, who began to yell back at the minister during his speech and had to be escorted out of the room.
"There is no nice way of saying this," Reid said, according to extracts from his speech released in advance. "These fanatics are looking to groom and brainwash children, including your children, for suicide bombing, to kill themselves in order to murder others.
"Look for the telltale signs now and talk to them before their hatred grows and you risk losing them forever.
"In protecting our families we are protecting our community."
"Victory in this ideological battle - this battle of values - is the only victory that will secure true peace," Reid added.
Relations between the government and many British Muslims have been strained in recent years by the unpopular invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq and the July 7, 2005 London transit bombings. The London attacks, which killed 52 commuters and four British-bred bombers, heightened concerns about radicalization within Britain's 1.6 million-strong Muslim community.
Many Muslims feel they are unfairly targeted for suspicion and are bearing the brunt of the government's tough new anti-terror measures.
Several high-profile anti-terrorist operations have heightened the strain, particularly a June raid on a house in east London in which a man was shot. He and his brother were later released without charge.
Seventeen British Muslims arrested last month have been charged in connection with an alleged plot to blow up trans-Atlantic jetliners in mid-air.
Yes, at least he had the courage to say it in the first place. But people need to quit apologizing to these ever so "sensitive" Muslims.
You had better not forget the Wahabbist Saudis. They are directly funding 80% of the mosques here in the USA, as well as providing many imams to teach the Wahabbist way of jihad, which is exactly what attacked us on 9/11.
How dare you say that!
They are also funding our media outlets.
A good first step would be to outlaw CAIR! Second - profile airplane passangers!!
Good to hear from you. I was going to congratulate you on the win in Knoxville last weekend, but couldn't ever get your screen name correct. I did remember the "gator" part though, but evidently transposed the f and w.
And yes indeed, the Saudis have bought stock in most all of the major media outlets. Do you guess there's a coincidence between their purchase of stock in Fox and the leftward shift recently noted? LOL
That's good:)
"There is no nice way of saying this," Reid said, "These fanatics are looking to groom and brainwash children.."
He's talking about the democrats right?
Fine, fine, fine. You show me a non-Muslim suicide bomber. Show me a non-Muslim flying a jetliner full of innocent passengers into a building full of innocent people. Show me a non-Muslim blowing up tube trains. Show me a non-Muslim blowing up bars, discos, or resorts. Show me a non-Muslim acting like a terrorist and we will stop focusing our anti-terror efforts on Muslims.
Anybody?
crickets
Shalom.
"Many Muslims feel they are unfairly targeted for suspicion and are bearing the brunt of the government's tough new anti-terror measures."
Blame the fellow muslims, who are truly the root cause of the inconvenience.
Sounds like they need an ad campaign. "Just say NO to suicide bombing" or better, "Friends don't let friends blow themselves and others up"
A saudi owns 18% of Fox, I often wonder if thats why Vanity says islam is really peaceful
That's very good to hear! Best of luck to the good guys in Britain. We're going to need it too over here.
I am laughing but I know it (the "peace") is far more DEAD serious than that.
Or rather: "Just say no to excuses for mass murder" (like occupation and other crap).
