"My Daddy was my hero - he was always there for me when I needed him.
"He listened to me and taught me so many things but most of all he was fun.
"I know that daddy had an important job. He was working to change the world so everyone would love wildlife like he did.
"He built a hospital to help animals and he bought lots of land to give animals a safe place to live.
"He took me and my brother and my mum with him all the time. We filmed together, caught crocodiles together and loved being in the bush together.
"I don't want daddy's passion to ever end.
"I want to help endangered wildlife just like he did.
"I have the best daddy in the whole world and I will miss him every day. "When I see a crocodile I will always think of him and I know that daddy made this zoo so everyone could come and learn to love all...

That was an impressive speech by a brave young girl. Steve would be proud.

I watched this little young lady last night and was struck at how compose and mature she seemed. She like her Dad has passed down the gene of being composed in a situation where most people would lose it.
I don't know that I'll be surprise to see this young lady wrangling Crocs in a dozen or so years.

Precious child and is a marking of how good a father Steve Irwin was, regardless of what people said about him holding his son with the Crocodile nearby.

Time for me to head for the ladies room and weep.
So sweet, so sad and so uplifting at the same time.

To our friends in Oz
I personally didnt care for Irwin's act. However, after seeing your nation's response to his death I regret the insensitive things I said regarding him. Australia is one of the few friends we have in the world so your loss is our loss. Please accept my apologies.

This little girl stole my heart a year or so ago when, I think it was a 20/20 (or similar show) piece on Steve Irwin, she said to the interviewer, "This is my zoo!"
She must have been all of 5 or six at the time, and was just so sure of herself.
She'll do her dad proud, she's a tough kid.

She's going to carry it on. He would be proud Indeed. As he should.
Interestingly, though I spent better parts of my childhood outdoors (and especially in the ocean) and I learned more from watching Crocodile Hunter with my kids than I did growing up (even reading "Ranger Rick"). He was just so vidid and real; one of a kind.

Yes interesting they chose that one. What, are they hoping she's next?

Four things struck me about the Memorial,
#1 Bindi does not understand death is permanent and soon she will ask for her daddy.
#2 The Family sat on their hands during the Prime Ministers speech (the Wife WILL come out as a super tree hugging WACO leftest)
#3 Best guy at the Memorial was the Wiggly guy, he "got it" Steve was a kid, his smile and attitude were what Steve would have wanted.
#4 More than friendship, more like a brother, Wes is the MAN! I feel for Wes more than the Wife or the Dad, I can't even imagine how Bindi is going grieve, Wes will step up and help her JMHO Wish I could hug and help, Steve Irwin RIP TT
To: TexasTransplant
The Family sat on their hands during the Prime Ministers speechI missed that. Was it just Terri or the whole family? Did they clap for anyone else?
To: beaversmom
She didn't seem to clap for anyone. It seemed obvious from her facial expressions (even with the sunglasses) that she was grieving a lot. I don't blame her at all.
BTW, my son drew a paper today that said Crikeydile Tears.
To: beaversmom
"sat on their hands" is a figure of speech.
Arms Crossed, Grim faced and sunglasses
remember it was what "I" perceived, I am not a journalist and cannot "tell" you what is in their hearts.
