Chirac Threatens a Separate Peace With Iran Regime
The New York Sun ^ | 9/19/06 | Benny Avni

Ahead of what is now certain to be a contentious meeting with President Bush today, President Chirac of France reneged on his previous support for a united international approach to halting Iran's nuclear program.

In two interviews on the eve of his trip to Turtle Bay to attend the U.N. General Assembly, Mr. Chirac threatened to restart negotiations with Iran. His comments called into question the united position of the five permanent members of the Security Council and Germany, whose foreign ministers had said that unless Iran suspended enrichment by the end of August, the council would consider punitive measures.

"I don't believe in a solution without dialogue," Mr. Chirac told Europe 1 radio. "We must, on the one hand, together, Iran and the six countries, meet and set an agenda, then start negotiations."

The French president added, "I suggest that the six renounce referring" Iran to "the U.N. Security Council and that Iran renounce uranium enrichment during negotiations," according to an Associated Press translation.

However, Iran is already on the Security Council's agenda. The 15-member body earlier adopted a declaration by the foreign ministers of Russia, China, America, France, Britain, and Germany to consider sanctions unless Tehran suspends enrichment. And the International Atomic Energy Agency has said since then that it has been unable to verify that Iran's nuclear program is peaceful.

It was a setup all the time. Chirac new we'd push it in the security council and he played us until the right time to change course. Time to start tossing the wine and cheese again.

They actually have some nice colonies, like Polynesia, New Caledonia, and some islands in the Indian ocean which would be useful as transit points to the Gulf. Those colonies only have brigade or so, sometimes less each to defend them. Send in the Marines.

If, or more like, when we have to do something retaliatory to the Muslim world....we can always just 'include' France in that retaliation.

Oh wait. You said 'something really ugly'.....
and that would merely be justice, since France has been against the US for quite some time now. (nevermind)

___
I wish we could think of something really ugly to do to France.

Actually, nuking the French will not be necessary as they will surrender much too soon for that becoming a necessity. However, the frog's should get busy planting some shade trees for the Muslim victory march through the streets of Paris. Anyone who would take a promise from the french seriously has gotta be one dim bulb for sure. My favorite recent pic of the french is after promising to send several thousand troops in support of the Lebanon UN task force, they send six soldiers in a rubber boat - what a great shot! Says it all about the french for sure!

"How about a troop of Texas Boy Scouts?"

Can't use those shock troops, we'll need them for France.

France can do what it wants, this is what irrelevance is all about.

We didn't honor any of France's deals with Iraq, after we took Saddam down, and we won't honor any of France's deals with Iran after we take down the mullahs either.

France knows this, we already screwed them once, in full view of the world, and right now, they're either bending over for a second round, or else they are...negotiating...for something they want.

I don't mind negotiation, as long as we get something valuable too.

But the bottom line is still the bottom line. Iran will not be...permitted...to achieve an operational military nuclear capability.

France either understands this, or else is headed for their second economic debacle in less than a decade, and I doubt the Chirac government will survive France's next recession.

Aww come on, think about it! We could break out some '40s issue gear and uniforms, have the guys loaded into Higgins boats and let them go all "old school" for awhile.
Call it a historical retrospective or some such. The guys would get a kick out of it.
