Has anyone heard of this movie? Supposedly the producers are religious Christians, so the movie should be scripturally accurate.

Never heard of it.
Gawd, I thought O'Toole was long dead. Did a search and he's still kicking.

Yes, on TBN ... and the Producer ( I think is the son of Paul Crouch ).
Hollywood will be scratching their collective heads in denial when they see this movie become a success and a hit.

This movie has been in the making for years - my aunt gave me the book a couple of years ago.
It's great, I'm looking forward to the movie.

I saw a screening of the film last week; I'd meant to start a thread about it, but I've been down with a cold and kept putting it off. The version I saw was still rough-cut, but it looked like it would be an excellent movie. They didn't take any liberties with the book of Esther, beyond filling in some of the story around Esther's selection as the new queen and the reason why she hadn't been summoned before Xerxes for many months before going before him to plead for her people.
It's definitely worth checking out.

Peter O'Toole and Omar Shariff. A blast from the past. Sounds great!
Next thing, we need a movie about Jael and Sisera.

For example, why wouldn't the movie be released nearer to Purim?

Well, the 50s movie starring Joan Collins didn't do the story justice. Joan "couldn't" look bad for the cameras, ya know. Being a peasant? Heaven forbid! However, I remember a book called "Behold Your Queen" in my small rural school library that I enjoyed so much when I was a teenager. Even the Bible story of Esther didn't tell the story as good as this book. Another 50s/early 60s movie about the biblical Ruth and Naomi starring Stuart Whitman as Boaz was good, much better than the Joan Collins movie. This movie of Ruth provided an insight into the ancient Jewish law and tradition.

Never heard of it before now. Not sure where the appeal's going to be, unless it's to the female movie-goer.

First reference I have seen. Which probably means that the DNC and the Hollyweirdos are scared to death that it will be accurate and will succeed.
