Has anyone heard of this movie? Supposedly the producers are religious Christians, so the movie should be scripturally accurate.

Well, accurate so far as their limited understanding permits (being unfortunately ignorant of Jewish oral tradition).

For example, why wouldn't the movie be released nearer to Purim?

My thoughts exactly! It's like releasing a Christmas movie in August!..........

I'm sure that it will be better than Hollyweird's interpretation.

BTW, I finally got around to watching the Israeli Sukkot movie "Ushpizin" which was billed as the "first Ultra-Orthodox movie ever produced." It's very good.

Hey! It's time for the High Holy Days. They snuck up on me. Happy Rosh Hashanah, early.

Well, we can always ask our Messanic Jewish friends to enlighten us.

Thanks for the head's up on your preferred date of release.

"For example, why wouldn't the movie be released nearer to Purim?"

1. Time value of money. Money now vs. in the future.

2. Purim is March, 2007 --- butting up against Big Movie Releases, if release slot is delayed, especially now that "Summer" movies come out in May. (Only so many screens and fighting for screens is a big deal for little movies.)

3. The generally accepted principal is that family movies do better during the fall season.

4. Eligibility for awards in 2006, for a wider release and buzz with awards here.

It's the same strategy many small budget, high-quality movies take.
