FBI agents yesterday raided the suburban Detroit headquarters of LIFE for Relief and Development (LRD), the largest Islamic charity in the country.
I first wrote about the group for The Post in 2003. Back then, FBI Director Robert Mueller was set to give an award to Imad Hamad, who heads the Midwest chapter of the American Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC). But, after my Post article pointed out that Hamad was a subject in over a dozen terrorism-related investigations, the FBI revoked the award.
One of those investigations concerned Hamad's close ties to LRD. Both the FBI and the then-U.S. Customs Service (now ICE) had been probing the charity for possibly laundering money for Hamas.

if ya drive through dearborn ( the arab section of detroit ) it seems like every other building is some kind of charity organization. and they all have that scribble on the signs...
It needs be mentioned that Detroit is the biggest failure of American cities. Violent crime, poverty, joblessness, homelessness, gangster unions gone wild, public corruption, enormously expensive public schools producing killers, rapists, 14-year-old mothers, a 75% out of marriage birth rate ... the list is endless. A true Blue City "success story."
You obviously do not know Dearborn.
Well, it's about time Michigan woke up to the terror it is harboring.
Poll: Sinking Perceptions Of Islam
(IN) Although Americans believe they are better informed about Islam than they were five years ago, a new CBS News poll finds fewer than one in five say their impression of the religion is favorable. Forty-five percent of respondents said they have an unfavorable view of Islam, a rise from 36 percent in February. Americans today are also more likely than not to believe that Islam encourages violence, at least in comparison to other religions around the world. The poll finds 46 percent of Americans believe Islam encourages violence more than other religions, compared with 39 percent of Americans who felt that way two months ago. The last few months have seen escalating sectarian violence... http://www.thepath.fm/news/newsitem.cfm?id=17759
It's NOT the "Arab section of Detroit." Dearborn is Dearborn all by its lonesome. Home of Henry Ford, Greenfield Village (now The Ford), etc.
Husband is from a Detroit suburb. Get's ticked when someone says he's from "Detroit." :)
I understand this, I just give the description for those that do not live in the area......tell someone dearborn and you just get a blank stare.......tell them detroit, and they have the general area figured out
explain........
Dearborn is not the "Arab section of Detroit." Dearborn is a suburb southwest of Detroit that contains a large Arab population.
The particular "charity" that was busted yesterday is not even located in Dearborn, but in Southfield, a northern suburb, smack in the middle of a heavily Jewish neighborhood.
1)...see post #9
2)...have you ever driven through dearborn...i worked 2 blocks outside of dearborn in detroit for years, and when you drove through to get to michigan avenue ( lots of great restaurants for lunch ) there were tons of charitable organizations there. I did not specifically talk about the one in question, just relayed my observations of the area. Please read my post again.
It sure as hell wasn't shot in TEXAS!
Every day.
do you have to drive through detroit?
Dearborn is not a section of Detroit and not every store has Arabic writing on the signs. You are most likely thinking of Warren Ave. as you exit Detroit and enter Dearborn.
"and when you drove through to get to michigan avenue ( lots of great restaurants for lunch ) there were tons of charitable organizations there."
You did not drive "thru" Dearborn, you drove "in" East Dearborn.
Schaefer Ave.....and even the Rite Aid drugstore and the Kentucky Fried Chicken have scribble on the signs.........
there is no east dearborn.....you must be thinking of dearborn heights
"there is no east dearborn.....you must be thinking of dearborn heights."
Like I said, you don't know Dearborn at all. There is an East Dearborn and a West Dearborn, both in the City of Dearborn. Southfield divides the two and they are like two different cities.
