What a shame, he'd just become a grandfather too. Condolences to Mariska and family.

Age 80, dated Jane Mansfield, Mr Universe and America sounds like he had a good long life. Prayers for the family. I never knew Mariska was the daughter of Jane Mansfield. Good genes I guess she can look forward to a long life.

An in-law who knew Mickey Hargitay claims that he told everyone to pronounce his name "Haggerty".

Sorry I missed this thread yesterday and didn't know about Mickey Hargitay's death until I saw it on TV just now.
Didn't know much about him "back in the day" but remember Jayne Mansfield well and have been a big fan of Mariska's since the first time I watched her on SVU. My condolences to the Hargitay family.

He went on to star opposite his wife in three films: "The Loves of Hercules," "Promises! Promises!" and "Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter?" I'm not sure about the other two movies, but it was Tony Randall (best known as Felix in the tv series, The Odd couple) who starred opposite Mansfield in Rock Hunter. In fact, Randall played the title role of Rock Hunter. Mickey was in the movie, but all for a few minutes, and not even in a scene with Mansfield. He played her movie star boyfriend who was being interviewed on tv.
