Poll: Immigration top issue

Nearly two of every three Colorado voters think illegal immigrants should be allowed to become U.S. citizens if they pay taxes, learn English and meet other requirements, according to a new Rocky Mountain News/CBS 4 poll.

Only 15 percent of those polled favor mass deportations.

"People want to be tough but fair," said pollster Lori Weigel. "It's like many issues. You tend to hear from extremes on both ends. Clearly, this data indicate that there's a silent majority that is supportive of a more middle-ground approach."

Your strawmen again. Do you put them together in the night and then line them up by your computer?

So you are saying that I should disregard the history of hitler's mass deportations.

"Mass deportation isn't feasible. Border security isn't really feasible. We can cut down on illegal immigration by a multi-billion dollar fence, but we can't stop it entirely. We'd have to fence the northern border, too, since planes from Mexico do fly to Canada. And our coastlines, forget it. Ya think Californians will tolerate fenced beaches?"

Mass ICE agents storming day laborer "jobs (illegal activity)" sites; big box stores; chain restaurants' kitchens; maid services, etc., would cause mass layoffs by employers and strike fear in the hearts of illegals.

Also unannounced visits of DMV sites, free health clinics, welfare offices would send illegals back to their current homes as well as Festival Hispanicas currently going on in most cities not to mention pro-illegal alien marches could certainly leave a big hole in the amount of people willing to present a public face on their comings and goings in our community.

And I notice you can't answer the tough questions when posed to you.

You support illegal immigrants. How many do you DIRECTLY support? With YOUR money?

Or will you abandon this thread like you do so many others when people point out your hypocrisy or complete use of logical fallacies in place of argumentation?

That was no straw man argument. I made a simple assertion. Stopping all illegal immigration is hard, and probably impossible.

You might not agree, and I might not be right, but you don't get to mischaracterize what I said.

It's MUCH worse than leaving the door unlocked. There's no freaking door at all, never has been.

Plenty of rooms and sub-basements that are never entered by the owner either.

Time Poll: Build Border Fence, Deport Illegals

Americans support building a security fence along the entire 2,000 mile U.S.- Mexican border by a landslide, a new Time magazine poll has found.

By a margin of 56 to 40 percent, respondents said they want the wall built from sea to shining sea - not just the 700 miles stipulated in the House plan, a proposal the press calls "draconian."

Now you play the Hitler card.
You obviously have very little respect for the general philosophical underpinnings of most FReepers. Did you think this would actually impress anyone?

So you are saying that I should disregard the history of hitler's mass deportations.

I am saying they are no revelance to the discussion at hand.

And you haven't addressed our successful previous deportation of illegal invaders who have broken our laws and stolen from us.

Yeah and those people doing those jobs are akin to murderers and rapists.(eyes rolling)

No, but you should disregard idiotic comparisons like that and use your common sense.

It isn't hard at all. We have done it before.

I am sorry you have bought into the "it's too hard Boo-Boo Lip whining of the MSM and the Anti-American crowd."

Make it intolerable and they can go back to where they have free food, clothing, shelter and medical attention. Both Canada and Mexico have these.

"Mass. deportation"?

Shouldn't be too difficult to give them all a 1-way to Boston's Beacon Hill, or to the coast in Hyannisport.

Hey if you wish to deny the history of hitler's mass deportations, that's your right.

And also a mass deportation you are calling for would look more like hitler's than Eisenhower's operation wetback, due to the numbers.

I'm curious about the specific phrasing of the questions. Do you know what they were?

More push-polling from the MSM...

Next question.. do you support "earned legalization" for "undocumented immigrants", or do you think that the evil Republican House leadership should send these hard-working immigrants to the execution chamber?

And you accuse ME of hyperbole?? I already berated you elsewhere on these kinds of comparisons?

You and your strawmen! Jeeze, Dane! We are comparing them to robbers, thiefs and other more moderate crimes.

I have asked you many many times -- do you compare a shoplifter to "murderers and rapists?"

You need to stop being so illogical. It is getting old crushing your complete lack of argumentation.

And please quit going back to new threads to post the same logical fallacies. You have been destroyed. Get over it.

Oh, when did we tear down those fences? When have we deported more than we do today?

When exactly was this glory time when we had our borders guarded and how many men were involved?

I'm sorry you've bought into this "we've relaxed our borders" crap.

The problem has changed and we're dealing with it for the first time. Not well enough, but it's never been like this before.
