His own treasury secretary even likened him to a "blind man" after he left his post...

A timely example of Bush's temperance: his words... about the Wednesday death of Ann Richards, a fellow Texan and his 1994 gubernatorial opponent.

Recall, it was Richards who, as the keynote speaker at the 1988 Democratic National Convention, made a famously dismissive personal wisecrack at the expense of then-Vice President George H.W. Bush, the Republican White House nominee.
"Poor George, he can't help it," cracked Richards. "He was born with a silver foot in his mouth."
Some believe that remark motivated the younger Bush to run against incumbent Gov. Richards in 1994. If so, he chose the appropriate path for payback. Rather than engage in a vituperative exchange, he met her on the political playing field and challenged her on the issues — and then beat her on election day after she had publicly called him a jerk.
He took the high road then — and does so today.

And look what his "New Tone" has gotten him... 40% approvals. This "new Tone" thing isn't working too well.

Say what you like about President Bush's "new tone." It tells us everything we need to know about his outlook on life. He's only responsible for his own actions, not the actions of the rest of the world.
And threw the ball from the pitching rubber -- not from the grass in front of the mound like the french-looking sissy-boy senator from MA -- and dropped a nice breaking ball through the strike zone right into the catcher's mitt. (also unlike a certain sissy-boy from the senate who bounced his weak offering in front of the plate, only to claim he was trying to take it easy on the nervous soldier that was catching for him.)
Great post! I, too, have strong feelings for Mr. Bush. IMHO, he is more capable of directly responding to questions in PERTINENT fashion, not the mumbo-jumbo you get from the likes of Gore or Kerry. For all the claims that he doesn't speak well, I highly disagree.
He thinks on his feet better than anyone. Thank the Lord it wasn't Clinton or Kerry in office on 9-11!

It's refreshing to have a leader that knows the difference between right and wrong and lives his life that way even if it does hurt his poll ratings. It just affirms how far the morals of many people have slipped.
Just imagine how much self-control it requires to carry out this "new tone" and to not fire back at your critics. Personally, I hope he writes his autobio after leaving office and let's us know what he really thought of his years in DC.
And "W" got 55,000 New Yorkers [and guests] chanting "U.S.A, U.S.A...". No mean feat.
In a country lumpy with rude people(the US, unfortunately) President Bush is like a drink of cool water.
BTW, I have noticed in my travels, most recently to northern New England, that the more liberal the state, the worse the drivers. I know, it's not conclusive, but I think it is significant. :)
You gave me another good example why I admire him. He does what is right, does not chase the poll.
