He won my respect when he went to the pitcher's mound in New York before Game 3 of the World Series in 2001. And threw the ball from the pitching rubber -- not from the grass in front of the mound like the french-looking sissy-boy senator from MA -- and dropped a nice breaking ball through the strike zone right into the catcher's mitt. (also unlike a certain sissy-boy from the senate who bounced his weak offering in front of the plate, only to claim he was trying to take it easy on the nervous soldier that was catching for him.)

And "W" got 55,000 New Yorkers [and guests] chanting "U.S.A, U.S.A...". No mean feat.

Oh man, that was so awesome and inspiring!!! There I was at home watching the TV fearing for his life, and he had the confidence and composure to nail the pitch. He led by example that night. He had told us to keep on with our lives. There are two beautiful plaques of him during the wind-up gracing my den...and I mean gracing.
