NAIROBI, Kenya An elderly nun shot four times at the Somali hospital where she worked forgave her killers as she lay dying, colleagues said Monday in the wake of a murder that has focused attention on Islamic radicalism in the Horn of Africa country.
Sister Leonella, 65, muttered the words 'I forgive, I forgive' in Italian after being shot three times in the back by gunmen in an apparent execution-style killing, father Maloba Wesonga told The Associated Press at the nun's memorial mass in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, on Monday.
Her murder the latest slaying of a foreigner in Somalia was not a random attack and could have been sparked by remarks by Pope Benedict XVI about Muslims that have sparked angry reaction from Muslims around the world, added Willy Huber, regional head of the Austrian-funded hospital where Sister Leonella worked.
The killing has once again turned the spotlight on the lawless Horn of Africa nation where a powerful, radical Islamic group, accused of having ties to al-Qaida, have all but wrested control of the country from the weak and factional Somali government.
With it has come a hardline Taliban-style rule complete with public floggings and executions. Its leaders have pledged to wage holy war against an African peacekeeping force which is supposed to arrive early next month to help stabilize the country.

"Murdering a nun, can there even be a lower act a human can do?"
Janjaweed is trying to show that there is indeed something lower than killing a nun.
Kofi's Klatch has lots of child molesters on the UN payroll hard at work making sure that no child is left unmolested by the UN.
Arguably, if the inmates aren't running the asylum, the devil is.
It's already disappeared from CNN's home page. I'm sure it'll be ommitted from the nightly network news, as well. Instead we'll get in depth coverage of spinach.

Wow! Modern Europe still might fall to Islam before this is all over. After all, it is a religious wasteland now and something will come in to fill the vacuum.
If only we had a modern day Winston Churchill....
"I wonder if CAIR has condemned it yet...?"
Of course not...there is no time for condemnations of vicious, brutal and evil acts when you're too busy trying to set yourself up as the poor victim...CAIR's MO.
She sure was a cutie when she was young
Very interesting! Thanks.
Religion of Peace....my foot
More like Religion of Hate
Agreed!
I don't forgive; I don't forgive.
Organized governments will not 'do it'.
However, organized 'movements', who have the technical means and the will, who are fed up with it, may in fact 'do it'.
Murdering ANYONE is an evil thing, regardless of who the person is.
I wish we could hire this crew to go after the thugs who shot that poor nun.
Usually, K., I refer to it as Religion of Pieces, but I was late for a conference and wanted to post before leaving, and forgot to make the appropriate change.
Ditto.
They were not the thoughts of a previous pope, but the thoughts of 14th century Byzantine Emporer. Perhaps the muzzies should demand an apology from the fourteenth century emporer. Afterall they still live in the 14th century
It seems to me Sister Leonella had the beauty of the rose in addition to the fragrance of the rose. I'm referring to an entry in the diary of Dr. Andrew Bonar:
Some people have got the beauty of the rose of Sharon, and there are others who have the fragrance, too. Spent two hours today in prayer seeking that I might have the fragrance.I spent the weekend seeking the fragrance of the rose. After reading this story I see I still need to seek it.
