NAIROBI, Kenya An elderly nun shot four times at the Somali hospital where she worked forgave her killers as she lay dying, colleagues said Monday in the wake of a murder that has focused attention on Islamic radicalism in the Horn of Africa country.
Sister Leonella, 65, muttered the words 'I forgive, I forgive' in Italian after being shot three times in the back by gunmen in an apparent execution-style killing, father Maloba Wesonga told The Associated Press at the nun's memorial mass in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, on Monday.
Her murder the latest slaying of a foreigner in Somalia was not a random attack and could have been sparked by remarks by Pope Benedict XVI about Muslims that have sparked angry reaction from Muslims around the world, added Willy Huber, regional head of the Austrian-funded hospital where Sister Leonella worked.
The killing has once again turned the spotlight on the lawless Horn of Africa nation where a powerful, radical Islamic group, accused of having ties to al-Qaida, have all but wrested control of the country from the weak and factional Somali government.
With it has come a hardline Taliban-style rule complete with public floggings and executions. Its leaders have pledged to wage holy war against an African peacekeeping force which is supposed to arrive early next month to help stabilize the country.

sister Leonetta is with the angels in heaven now.
Actually, Christians are martyred every day at the hands of Muslims. Is any of this ever covered by MSM? Is it even considered "newsworthy"?
I've about had it with this crap ........
I am waiting for "moderate" muslims to condemn those who did this.......... CAIR? Hello, anyone there?
They are protesting that the pope said Islam was violent and spread by the sword ....by being violent and killing people. How can they fail to see that this only supports the pope's words?
This is a very Christian act. We must remember that when a Christian forgives, the Christian does not nullify the sin. The Christian merely places the responsibility for justice in G-d's hands, which are very capable.
Shalom.
"We are not a violent religion, and if you say we are, then we shall kill you."
Sister Leonetta can bask in the glory of meeting with the Holy Father before she passed.
As the crowd kept saying at the funeral of John Paul II--"Santos." The Holy Father could make a statement by putting her on the fast track and link her with John Paul.
She is a SAINT.
She's truly amazing. Surely she has a special place in Heaven awaiting her.
I'm not Catholic, and I don't know the rules, but I hope they do an initial investigation for consideration for sainthood. Martyrdom for her religion must count for something - although I believe miracles are required too. Just a thought.
She is a great example for all faiths, IMO.

****
And I'm sure she will rejoice at being reunited with him in paradise.
Martyred for her faith and forgiving...God bless her.
Religion of peace my arse BUMP! Look no further than this example as to why Islam is a death cult built on evil.
That is what separates Christians from Muslims...Christ said to forgive those who hate and persecute you. Muslims are taught only revenge and jihad. While I'm sure this sister has found her blessed reward, I doubt her murderers will get their heavenly virgins.
Superb idea.
Forgivness is but one of the major differences between Christianity and the cult of islam.
