Iran leader arrives for New York showdown
The Daily Telegraph ^ | September 18, 2006 | Francis Harris

Iran's radical anti-American president arrives in New York today to face his western enemies in what is expected to be a fiery showdown over his country's nuclear ambitions.

In his second trip to the land Teheran calls "the Great Satan" since he was elected in 2004, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is expected to come under heavy international pressure to halt key elements of Iran's suspected nuclear weapons programme at the United Nations annual meeting.

Western powers are pressing for further security council action against the Iranian regime after its decision to ignore an Aug 31 deadline to halt uranium enrichment. advertisement

But as he met leaders of 118 "non-aligned" countries gathered in Cuba at the weekend, Mr Ahmadinejad, 50, challenged America's right to nuclear weapons.

"Why should people live under the nuclear threat of the United States?'" he asked the so-called Anti-Bush summit, attended by countries including India, Pakistan, North Korea, China and South Africa. "What is the UN security council waiting for to react to those threats?" He went on to question American and British permanent membership of the 15-nation council.

But massive overkill says "I care."

Firery showdown? He's just coming to show how politically weak America is on our own turf. Our fluff and puff politicians won't do a thing. What they should do is take him out to lunch and order ham sandwichs.

The fact that evil people congregated in Havana to denounce the West is expected. The fact that the travelling roadshow is allowed to proceed to New York is unfathomable.

Wait a minute! I thought all Muslims were supposed to be LEAVING the country. What's this guy doing coming in there?

One bullet indeed, though I'd find great satisfaction in emptying the whole clip into the little Hitler.

Seriously though, arresting this guy and throwing him in Gitmo would be a great way to start Operation Salamis.

Maybe we could get somebody to declare that his visit means "peace in our time."

Let me guess. He's going to claim some white light appears above his head again during during his speech at the UN.

Leaving? They have no intent whatsoever in leaving! If anything, what's-his-head, he's probably sizing up a nice apartment in Manhattan for a summer home. Near the UN, where some of his biggest fans are at.

I'm surprised people haven't noticed that he has a Napoleon complex.

Also, what the flipping hell is it with him buying clothes off the bargain rack at Woolworths?

Great to have you back, BTW.

Planning to stay? Like I said earluier, you could just send the tiny-brained Anglobashers to your homepage and then ignore anything but an apology you hear from them thereafter.

This was the entire "glow" incident - from a blog post I made:

Let’s put it bluntly, President Ahmadinejad is a complete and utter loon. I’m not saying this lightly. He provided ample evidence of how barmy he is in a video distributed by an Iranian website last November. The video quotes him saying that when he made his maiden speech at the United Nations, one of his colleagues said that he saw a “glow of light” around the President.

Rather than suggest that his colleague needed to have his eyes checked, he said:

“I felt it myself too…I felt that all of a sudden the atmosphere changed there. And for 27-28 minutes all the leaders did not blink…It’s not an exaggeration, because I was looking.

“They were astonished, as if a hand held them there and made them sit. It had opened their eyes and ears for the message of the Islamic Republic.”

He needs to be put down.

Regards, Ivan

This guy should be arrested at the airport. There's no doubt he was one of the hostage takers back in 1979.
