Why is the Media Coronating Eliot Spitzer

Posted on 09/17/2006 6:55:52 PM PDT by Dodgers fan

Why is the New York press ignoring the candidacy of Republican/Conservative John Faso. John Faso was the former minority leader for the Republican party in the State Assembly and came very close to defeating Alan Hevesi three years ago for State Controller. Now that he is running against super liberal Eliot Spitzer, the press is crowning Spitzer governor and ignoring Faso.

John Faso, fthe former Assembly Minority leader, is being treated badly and even contemptuously by some local Republicans especially on a certain blog site. It is disgraceful the way a good candidate is being treated in the Blue State of New York. If Faso does badly against super liberal abortion loving Eliot Spitzer, it will be the absolute end of the Republican party in New York State. R.I.P. is all I can say! Does anybody have any suggestions or theories about this massive back stabbing of a good candidate who has done his all for the GOP?

You do remember that Mario Cuomo was governor right? What did Bob Grant used to call him?

Why is the Media Coronating Eliot Spitzer

Because he's one of them?

Il Supremo, I think.

The media is ignoring Faso because he has virtually no name recognition outside of the Capital District area, little money (especially compared to Spitzer), and (unfortunately) very little chance of winning. Spitzer has spent millions on very effective TV advertising.

No, it was the "spah-cheem" (phonetically from the Italian word for "two-faced").

(Two brains cells just collided, sparking a fuzzy memory)
"Mario, offendeme! To se proveno spacheme!"

"And he is, too."

You're right - Bob Grant called Mario Cuomo spah-cheem. But he also called him Il Supremo (kind of like Mussolini).

I like Faso, especially since he's an Upstater. He'll get my vote, but the guy doesn't have a prayer of winning the election. Spitzer is the Dems golden boy and they are solidly behind him. The Dems enrollment advantage means Spitzer wins, end of story.

Thanks!

Unfortunately us Jersey commuters are going to suffer like we did with the spah-cheem!

Conservatives in New York face the same quandry as us in the Garden State.

Too bad, because Spitzer is a scary autocratic demogogue who should be stopped.

~~
Because Spitzer hates capitalism just as the NY press does. Simple.

Wasn't he called the "spaccime" up in Albany? Andrew is also a spaccime.

"Mario, ascendame- tu sei proprio spaccime'. Those were the words: "Mario, listen to me, you are a real jerk" - and he sure was. With Spitzer, it is Mario II.

What I can't get over is the calculated effort on the part of the media to ignore Faso - totally ignore him. Then I read somewhere that pollsters expect 50% of Republicans to vote for Spitzer? The pollsters never phoned me. Spitzer has tons of baggage - if only the public were aware of it.
