Five Duquesne basketball players, all but one of them new players who enrolled only this month, were shot early Sunday during an apparent act of random violence on campus. Two players were in critical condition, and the condition of a third hospitalized player was not immediately available.

It's been up on AP for an hour. That's an AP story.
"5 Duquesne basketball players shot AP - 1 hour, 17 minutes ago"
Duquesne University?
DU?
Most college campuses prohibit firearms.
Look how safe that makes them.
I read about this this morning.
It happened at 2:30 this morning.
I wondered what took so long for FNC to have anything on it's website.
It's a Catholic university, run by the Spiritans, who are also known as the Holy Ghost Fathers.

Is SoreLosermanism random?
Yep.

It's a basketball thing. You wouldn't understand.
Thats the trouble with criminal law it is reactive.
It only exists to discourage (by punishing) unacceptable behavior.
Therefore if an individual believes that he can escape punishment he will ignore the law and commit a crime.
It then is up to LEO to detect the crime and capture the perpetrator.
There will always be those in society will ignore the law. The problem is with Fire Arms prohibition is that it disarms those who respect and willingly follow the law while those inclined to disrespect and ignore the law are free to go Armed by their own inclinations.
Your probably right.
If its a Catholic University maybe its a 'random act against the Pope'?
Scary!!!!! There are TONS of Catholic schools in our region both metro thru to the central rural areas. And Elementary thru College/University.
I doubt this was random ... curious as to hearing the description of the shooter. I'm sure we won't hear a nationality or religion, unless he's a Christian.
thanks ... I may have assumed too much? It appears he fled into one of the lesser desirable parts of the city.
I just heard about this- and I live in Pittsburgh. Didn't have local news on though it seems this would make it to national news...
