But where is Dave Berry? What's he up to? He's been AWOL for some time. I hope his health is good.

If the people in Europe are SOOOOOO smart, how come so many of them can't seem to locate the deodorant, huh? Ahhhhh, Mr. Barry at his finest!

Modern newspaper editors don't have time to read the newspaper; they spend their days in lengthy ''brainstorming'' sessions with other editors wherein they try to decide what to do about the Internet. Not only funny, but prescient, too.

The simple fact is, I ''blew it,'' and I want to set the record straight now: When the Czech Republic and Slovakia were connected, they were called -- this now seems SO obvious, when I look at the names ''Czech'' and ''Slovakia'' together -- ''The Netherlands.'' (Incidentally, this was the original location of the Leaning Tower of Pisa.)LOL! I wonder if those who complained will get it this time!

What is the cause of this disgraceful lack of knowledge? I blame the same institution that is responsible for crime, sex, godlessness and millions of square miles of badly drawn refrigerator art: our school system.Really? Is it not the responsibility of parents to see that their kid is getting and education and see that his homework is done? Nope, they'd rather sit back and blame someone else.
Thank God, I received my education in Europe.
The most frightening flights I've ever been on were European ones where they did indeed fly low enough to read the street signs and actually seemed to idle at stop signs and make 90 degree turns at corners.

"Just last month, the major U.S. airlines, investigating an increase in the number of delayed flights, discovered that many of their pilots cannot read maps and are finding their destination cities by, in the words of an airline spokesperson, ``flying real low and following buses.''
I'm calling BS big-time on this. You don't get a license if you can't navigate.

I love the letters he gets from his readers. I can't tell if they're serious, or playing the same satirical game that Dave plays.

Was there a point to this? Other then the obvious one that Dave Berry is an self absorbed obnoxious juvenile twit?

That's how we should teach geography.
I still remember my grade-school lessons: Germany and Austria got Hungary and went to eat Turkey but slipped on Greece.

I received a "Dave Barry" audio tape that I listened to during a long road trip. He announced that Richard Nixon should get down on his knees and pray to God for forgiveness over Vietnam. Never said a word about Johnson, "Whiz Kid" McNamara or anyone else. Haven't read an article by him since, including this one, yuk-yuk.
