I beg your pardon.
Apparently I made a major error of fact in a recent column. It turns out, contrary to what I wrote, that there never was a Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attack on the United States.
It wasn't hijacked airliners that brought down the twin towers of the World Trade Center. Nor did any airplane plow into the Pentagon. Nor did United Flight 93 come to earth in a field in Shanksville, Pa. Rather, the U.S. government staged this tragedy in order to dupe the nation into an oil war in the Middle East.
Or at least so I am told by a surprising plurality of readers. Add to that Hugo Chavez, president of Venezuela and renowned loose cannon, who said in a speech Tuesday it's possible the U.S. government had a hand in attacking itself on Sept. 11.
Of course, it's also possible the U.S. government doesn't even exist, that it and we and Chavez himself are only figments of the imagination of a little autistic boy staring into a snow globe.
Possible, but not bloody likely.

Listening almost daily to call in talk radio it's amazing to me how many people actually buy into this insane theory.While I can't see the callers it's not to difficult to distinguish a " twenty something " caller from an older person and obviously it isn't just college kids calling in.The real message I get from this fact is there's enough genuine hatred by some Americans for George Bush and the Republicans that they'd rather blame conservative Americans for the attack then the Islamic terrorists who committed the atrocity !!!

What's the theory??
Tower 7 came down not because of the planes but because of explosives inside of it ... so says the owner of said structure.
I hold a minority opinion. The BBC reporter announcing the collapse of Tower 7 twenty minutes before it collapsed, and announcing said collapse while standing in front of the Tower 7.... that's one bit. The video of Tower 7 going down as a perfect implosion... that's another bit. And the owner's statement without varnish or spin... that's another.
Who did it if it's true?
I want to know why NORAD wasn't deployed, and a host of questions that haven't been answered.
