Romney basically said that those Rpeublicans breaking with the President on this issue are making a huge mistake. Romney is a very smart guy. McCain is gonna lose on this issue with the public at large and when the votes are finally counted. Romeny and President Bush will win this one.

By the way, I keep checking back at RedState for Mark Kilmer's review of the shows so I can post a link and excerpt, like I normally do, and I came across this one that relates to the Pope's comments.  I had to share:

Caption of the Day

By Erick

Image
"Angry lefties just realized gas prices are falling and the GOP's poll numbers are going up. Chanting 'Die. Bold. Die. Bold.' they rushed into the streets of Berkeley to protest."

What's your caption? Chime in in the comments and yes, this is an open thread.

Ann is even skinnier in person, isn't she? Did you tell them you are a freeper? When I met Ann in the lobby of the Four Seasons hotel in Austin a year and a half ago she thought that was neat, then introduced me to her body guard

LOL

Allen is obviously from the South and much of the South is full of really nice and polite people.I love the South.

That works almost every where except in big league politics.

Successful politicians can twist an opponents arm using just verbiage until he crawls on the floor and swears to change parties! It's an art form few ever conquer.

Completely puzzling to me are the mortality statistics coming out of Iraq. Sometimes "80 die overnight in Baghdad." Other times it just gives a finding of, "25 found bound and with evidence of torture.."

I can recall no instance other than the recent statistics out of Iraq that do not try to furnish more information. Are these people Sunnis? Shiites? Kurds? Al-Queda? Are they possible terrorists who have met their just end or are they victims of crime?

The basic message of the MSM is we have lost and lost big. Headlines blare when three or more US soldiers die but not when none die. Always the message is the US cannot control the populace. The question is never asked why should we?

Iraq is a lawless place and like those five basketball players in Duchesne the reasons for these assaults and deaths are left up to one's imagination.

CNN just now doing a piece on Anbar Province in Iraq saying how bad it is! How al Qaeda actually runs the place.

These guys still don't get it! We have concentrated all the terror types in one place so they are easier to destroy. It won't happen over night but it will happen. When more and more of them don't go back to their caves the rest will get the idea and learn something else besides terrorism.

Meanwhile we train more Iraqi forces every month. Sooner or later they will take up lots of slack, but that too takes time! It's not overnight three minute t.v. segment sound bite.

That is all the Pres wants is a definition of the limits.

&&&&

Isn't it amazing how many people - in Congress and in the media - fail to see that point.

The Geneva Convention is about as relevant to war as the Kyoto Treaty is to the realities of our world.

NONE.

A piece of feel good legislation that has no place in a war!

There were no criminal charges to be convicted of.

Good thing Scooter Libby wasn't around back then - he could have been indicted for something then as well.

Did you notice Chris Wallace in his interview say; "Patriots like Bush and Cheny and REAL patriots like Powell and McCain"? Not that that exposed him or anything.

Allen has the closest stand(to mine) on the issues... but I end up crossing my fingers everytime he gets on camera. Romney however, turned me off with his MA health-plan... but he's better on-camera than Allen. Too bad we couldn't cut'm apart and make one good candidate.

I wasn't going to bring this one up but Gen. George Joulwan on CNN(I gotta stop watching that net) just brought it up about the taliband funeral photos.

These photos taken by a drone flying over Afghanistan show a group of 190 suspected terrorists all in a tight group attending a terror type funeral.

Both CNN spokesmen said that rules of war in Afghanistan did permit us to take them out. I have heard differeing stories over the week and I have heard a lot about this photo. I suppose the rest of you have as well. I really don't want to take anything I hear from CNN seriously. So if any one out there has what they think is the defining moment on this story I sure would like to hear it.
