Jeanine F. Pirro, the Republican candidate for attorney general, sharply criticized her husband this afternoon for driving 51 miles an hour in a 25-mile-an-hour school zone on Thursday only the latest instance of Albert J. Pirro Jr. causing trouble for his candidate-wife.
You didnt want to be in my house last night, Ms. Pirro said at a news conference.
Mr. Pirros speeding ticket in White Plains came two weeks after he accepted a plea deal over another ticket, for driving 98 miles an hour on a 55-mile-an-hour stretch of Interstate 95 in July. Mr. Pirro, a lobbyist with many powerful Republican friends, was allowed to keep his drivers license in return for admitting driving 74 miles an hour and paying a $175 fine.
Mr. Pirro has been in graver legal scrapes before he spent 11 months in federal prison on a tax evasion conviction in 2000 and Ms. Pirro said she had worked very hard to keep my family together during those years, when she was district attorney of Westchester County.
While side-stepping a question about whether her husband was a liability, she made clear that she was annoyed with him.
I am not happy, Ms. Pirro told reporters in Grand Central Terminal, after accepting an endorsement from the Association of Commuter Rail Employees. I am upset about it. I think that anyone who speeds in a school zone should be ticketed, and there was only one person at the wheel of that car. It was no one elses responsibility.
She said she hoped voters would judge her on her record as a district attorney and her qualifications to be attorney general, not on her marital issues.
Look, Ive run for office four times, and Ive been elected and re-elected every time, she said. The voters of...

Let me see if I understand the moral equivalency being drawn here:
Republican: speeding
Democrat: Perjury (Clinochio)
Republican: speeding
Democrat: Vehicular homicide (Kennedy)
Republican: speeding
Democrat: Selling nuclear secrets (Clinochio again)
Republican: speeding
Democrat: Election fraud (All)
Republican: speeding
Democrat: Treason (All, but especially Jimbo Cartier for giving away the Panama Canal and selling out our ally, the Shah of Iran)
I guess there are more, but...
Didn't Algore's youngin do the same thing a few years back?
Noooo. "ESPECIALLY," John "The Snake" Kerry, who actually DID commit a treasonous act (and could--and maybe in fact was, thus his unwillingness to sign his 180--have been prosecuted) for traveling to Paris and meeting/negotiating with members of both the Viet Cong and North Vietnam Gov't.
Carter, pales in comparison, but then as a Nam Vet, (as much as I despise Carter, I "LOATHE" Kerry) you might say I'm a tad bias.
Will New York continue its catch-and-release policy on illegal drivers?
Her husband clearly has problems.
If I were her I would get him to a counselor, to find out what is causing this destructive behavior during her campaign.
He seems to have some hostility to wards her.
No, a couple of very minor traffic tickets would not mean the same, that could just be bad luck, but not these.
He knows every time he does this, the media is going to rake his wife over the coals by bringing up his recent prison time.
I'll agree that Kerry belongs on the list, if you agree that Carter also belongs on it. Deal?
I really can't decide which of them is the more loathesome. They both exceed my tolerance by such a huge margin that all guages are pegged.
What a total jerk - is he also a lawyer perchance? Sure acts like one.
Pirro is a tough prosecutor and a hard lady. That said the dems have done this to her every time her name comes up anywhere. Pirro should win this race because she is more qualified however, her husband just keeps screwing up. Sometimes I wonder if it is intensional.
Where is fat Zulima Farber (the disgraced former Attorney General of New Jersey) when you need her to fix a traffic ticket? Do a search on Google if you want to get a few laughs about her speeding tickets, loss of licenses, bench warrants for her arrest, and variety of other infractions. It is pathetic when one stops to think that this criminal was the person who was supposed to be enforcing the law!

With that said, it will be interesting to see how Ms. Pirro's leadfoot husband fares with his growing collection of moving violations.

Hello Andrew Cuomo for AG!
Not saying I'm happy about it, but she's proven to be a total joke. I mean, I guess she looks good on paper, but assuming people in the pary actually met her, what made them think she's be the best AG candidate? Let alone the best Senate candidate?
Are you still around? Slow day at DU?
Golly! You are older than I thought. I had in mind a thirteen year old girl from the comments you make.
Hey, fight fire with fire.
Jeanine F. Pirro has long been above the law. A quick internet search will give you hints of her “do as I say not as I do” mantra. Her husband just gets caught. She is better at staying just under the radar. Once in a while facts pop up. Withholding information in criminal cases from defense attorneys that would hurt her cases was a common practice, and illegal and immoral. Why seek the truth when you “KNOW” the defendant is guilty. Favoring firms for their monitory gain while district attorney, why would she do it, unless something came her way. She cheated the county tax payers out of $350,000.00 was all that was proved. I wonder what the actual amount was, and what her motive was. If you are caught attempting illegal wiretapping, one must wonder how many times she got away with it. Income tax evasion, her husband took the fall, she only SIGNED the tax returns with him, and drove one of the vehicles involved in the many illegal deductions. She dodged a bullet there. I am glad she is done with setting legal standards. TV judge is a good place for her, and making 15 million a year completely legally is better than what her husband and her did for the 32 years they were working together. In her court with her standards and the evidence against her she should be in federal prison. I can see why her husband started cheating, who would want to listen to a hypocrite, day after day.
