Mr. Spock: call your pod. Your ears have been found.
I think "pleaded" is proper, old-school. Similar to saying someone was "hanged" (NOT "hung"...). Chuckle.
You said, Ney ... "then took the chips, bet at a casino and won $50,000"
WHERE did he "win" the $50k???? Nevada, perchance? Tip o' the iceberg? Reid?
Do you know what an "ijit" is?
We definitely should use "fewer" more and "less" less.
"I don't think who is in the majority will be the key to defeating terrorism,"
Who is in the majority will determine whether or not terrorism is even fought, much less defeated.
"Republican Congressman Ney's guilty plea may mean his long denial is finally coming to an end, but it doesn't mean the Republicans in Washington are wrapping up their culture of corruption. From Republican House Majority Leader John Boehner, to the Bush White House and the Republican Senate leadership, the GOP's culture of corruption is still strong in Washington."
I guess you missed that long list of Democrats that have taken lots more money from the same source.
Taking money, in and of itself, is not corruption. It is a matter of whether there is a quid pro quo because of it.
What we are liable to find out is that there are a lot more dems than reps who gave a quid pro quo in exchange.

WASHINGTON, Sept. 15 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The following release was issued today by the Democratic National Committee:
Ohio Republican Congressman Bob Ney's guilty plea may mean his long denial is finally coming to an end, but it doesn't mean the Republicans in Columbus or Washington are wrapping up their culture of corruption. From Republican House Majority Leader John Boehner, to the Bush White House and the Republican Senate leadership, the GOP's culture of corruption is still strong in Washington.

Didn't Dean swear that NO Democrat received ANY money from Abrahmoff?

There is no telling how many "real" crimes have been blamed on "drugs" and "alcohol" use. It's a lame cop-out.
career criminal politician ping
>>Republican culture of corruption<<
It blows my mind how stupid this comment is.
I was just going to ask the same thing. I was wondering if the word "pled" was just a word that my family used so much that I thought that it was the norm. Kind of like my father-in-law's favorite word is "regusted". I guess if you have been disgusted over something before and it happens again, you are regusted.
Everything the DNC said had such a great aura of truthiness to it that any substantial change of substance would have ruined the message that needs to be spread.
Yes it is correct that no Democratic politicians received money directly from Jack Abramoff. Some Democrats received funds from some of the same Indian tribes that Abramoff represented but there is no Abramoff-related hint of corrruption or crime involved with tribal donations to the Democratic Party or to any of its candidates. Please remember that Abramoff was a partisan Republican.
Idiot.
We just want the Dems hauled off as well. We're tired of Democrats continuing to get passes.
Examples : Harry Reid, Willaim Jefferson, Sandy Burglar, Jamie Gorelick.
