The enormous jet -- with its enlarged upper fuselage that can accommodate three times the cargo by volume of a standard 747-400 freighter -- gracefully took off under rainy skies from Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (formerly Chiang Kai-Shek International Airport). Boeing flight test pilots, Capts. Joe MacDonald and Randy Wyatt, took the airplane north, and then flew roughly 150 miles south following along the east side of the island before heading north again. (snip from previous thread/Boeing)

The video is 1 minute 13 seconds; pretty good quality; two takeoffs and two touchdowns.

This is the first of three 747's modified to deliver prefabed fuselage sections and wings, etc. to Everett, Washington for final assembly.

The tail swings open.

You know, it's just incredible how many Muslim nations are working diligently to create advanced commercial technology like this. Planes to carry huge amounts of cargo, new passenger jets, new trains, new styles of automobile...

Oh. Right. Aside from prehistoric sludge that powers the rest of the world, they're not working on exporting anything more than hate these days. Religion of peace, or one of no future?
