1. They are playing to half the audience they used to. And it's probably pissing them off big time. Given the numerous cancellations on their current tour, that's not surprising. After all, their music is normally patronized by conservative-leaning fans, and when Maines made that stupid remark in 2003 the Dixie Chicks promptly lost a huge fraction of their audience.
