TICKETS to Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin's memorial have been snapped up in just 15 minutes, leaving hundreds empty-handed.

Irwin fans camped overnight outside several ticketing outlets in Queensland overnight for free tickets to Wednesday's memorial service.

Three thousand tickets were snapped up at Australia Zoo and ticket outlets at Maroochydore and Brisbane.

At the front of the queue in Brisbane was 34-year-old beauty therapist Melissa Power, who had lined up for more than 25 hours to secure tickets.

"It's unbelievable," a teary Ms Power said once she had the tickets in her hand.

"I haven't slept and am so over-emotional - I'm looking so forward to it."

The night and a day on the footpath of a city street was "worth it without question", she said.

"I am a huge fan. I have grown to appreciate and love the conservation side of him," she said.

In Brisbane, about 130 missed out on tickets, as Ticketek staff handed out batches of four tickets to each person .

Michelle Darby was shaking with emotion after being handed the last three tickets.

Joy Pollock, of Red Hill, beside her in the line, was visibly upset when she missed out.

"I would have loved to have gone to the memorial. It was unfair that a lot of people in the queue were handed four tickets and we only wanted two."

Brisbane girl Kiamba Rogers, 10, and her 17-year-old sister were also in the queue.

"He had so much love to share with everyone. He cared for animals and he didn't do it for the attention, he did it to help the world," Kiamba said.

Haven't done a ticket search yet, but here's a tiny URL for a Steve Irwin search on eBay, sorted by most expensive items first - just to show what's going right now:
