President Bush Job Approval (@47%)
Rasmussen ^ | September 14 2006

Posted on 09/14/2006 9:00:46 AM PDT by jmc1969

Forty-seven percent (47%) of American adults approve of the way that President Bush is performing his job. Fifty percent (50%) disapprove. Those are by far the best numbers for the President since mid-February.

The spike is fueled largely by a resurgence of support among the President’s base. Eighty-five percent (85%) of Republicans now offer their approval. At its low point earlier in the year, just 66% of the GOP faithful approved of his job performance.

In January and much of February, the President’s Job Approval ratings were in the mid-40s. Then, they fell sharply and have hovered around 40% ever since. Fifty percent (50%) of men and 44% of women now say they somewhat or strongly approve of the President’s performance. Overall, 24% of Americans Strongly Approve and 38% Strongly Disapprove.

Since this is just the third day of a bounce, it remains to be seen whether this reflects lasting change or is nothing more than statistical noise. The Rasmussen Reports daily updates are based upon nightly telephone interviews and reported on a three-day rolling average basis. Most of the interviews for today’s update were completed before President Bush’s address to the nation two nights ago. Friday’s results will be the first based entirely upon interviews conducted after the speech and after the 9/11 anniversary.

the rest of the field is not satisfactory

It's really hard to pick out anybody and say, yep, that's grade A presidential material.

The MSM come election night is going to be reporting on the GOP holding Congress and as a mandate for Bush. It will be reported as a huge blown opportunity for the Dems.

There is a lot of time to make sure this happens.

Crikey - just yesterday his approval rating was at 46% and disapproval at 52%.

Rove better slow down or this will peak too soon to usher in a Pubbie sweep in November. </sarcasm>

Shalom.

It's frustrating when he gets away from what he does best.

That's getting dangerously close to the dreaded 50% mark if one is a Democrat.

They're not worried. Ras hasn't polled the dead likely voters yet.

Shalom.

I hope BOR sees this. Last night he was harping about it being in the 30s.

I still thinks the MSM will be favoring the Dems but you won't see the blowout scenarios anymore.

I would like to see Rumsfeld as President...even though I know he could never run and win.

But the thought of him standing in front of the White House Press Corps, looking down at the room full of liberals as he says:

...just to see their heads explode...:)

Ah well...we can dream, right?

Will there be any point in mentioning his approval numbers after the mid terms?!

Oh I think it will have a big impact on determining who his successor will be.

Shalom.

Actually it's too bad he can't since the rest of the field is not satisfactory, at least as it now stands.

If he truly was "selected not elected" in 2000, as the Dems assert, then can he run for his second election in 08?

Shalom.

That's the difference between us and them. Liberals do not have American values. We fight for America, they root for the enemy.

True. It'll be interesting to have an election without an incumbent President or VP in the race.

First off, PresBush is getting his message out and people are responding positively. The President is getting a bump from the 5th anniversary of 9-11. Americans believe Bush has done a good job of protecting the homeland from further terrorist attacks over the last five years. Throw in a significant decrease in gas prices, and people are beginning to see a light at the end of the tunnel. If this trend continues, the Democrat's chances of taking back the House are slipping away with each passing day.
