Perhaps the Political Suicide Club Conservatives might want to consider this. In all the political wet dream fantasizes that "Conservatives win by losing" what do they think happens to their slim chances of taking BACK the Congress if the Democrats follow up this with a reinstitution of the Fairness Doctrine?
The Fairness Doctrine would totally destroy Conservative Talk Radio. Without talk Radio the Conservative ability to win the Congress back goes from slim to nonexistent. This wacko wild butt guess that by losing the Congress the Republicans would be "forced" to more to the right is the dogma of political Know Nothings. This "idea" shows a complete ignorance of the powers of incumbency and the very real damage Democrats could do even if by some miracle they only held the Congress 2 years.

Democrats Call on News Networks to Balance Stories TVweek ^ | September 13, 2006 | Ira Teinowitz

Top Democratic congressional leaders are complaining to network and cable television news executives that the networks are giving the party short shrift in national security stories.
"Until now, there has been a complete absence of balance in the news coverage of national security issues," House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif. and Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., said in letters sent yesterday to top news executives at NBC, CBS, ABC, Fox News Channel and CNN.

The ring made him immortal, the lava somehow didn't kill him, he got out, cleaned himself up, picked up some hygene habits somewhere, waited in a cave for thousands of years, ending up in the marshes of Louisiana, where he picked up the cajun accent (he already liked crustations and other Cajun type foods illustrated in Tolkein's books and movies) and then when the modern Democratic party came to town in the 90's, he said "Yes Precious, this will work for us! We will rule the world! We must talk to Clinton!" LOL! That's the first reasonable explanation I've ever heard for Carville's existence.

I really don't think it is. We are hypersensitive to these guys, the rest of the country is not.

I agree. This is mugging for the Camera. The 3 Senate stoodges could of done this behind the scences with the White House. THEY decided to make it a publica PR game. It has nothing to do with doing the right thing.

That's the DNC. I really think they believe that their liberal bought and paid for regulars will vote for them and know that this is just a ploy to get some conservative voters. I think it was calculated with that in mind. I mean, any rabid liberal voter knows the DNC isn't serious about reducing abortions. I think it's just a calculated ploy like everything else the Democrats do.

Much. And much happier. The liberal news is just dark and depressing. Mostly opinion and not news. They don't really show the news and prove it out with itself, they say what they SAY the news is.

I remember an interview with Scrowcroft on Fox right after 9/11, maybe right after the WOT started in Afghanistan. I think it was either with Brit or BOR. He was asked if Iraq was the next step in the war, his answer was "Oh, I think so". I definitely remember that phrase, it was typically Scrowcroft attitude. He was all for going into Iraq until we actually did.
Ali -- you are so good at this-- maybe you could find the interview. My research skills aren't nearly as good as yours.

Gotta go spend the afternoon in (gag, hack) meetings with a class thrown in for comic relief. (Somebody changed all the computer systems over the summer and EVERYBODY is having to learn to log into the new system and retreive all of their files from last year.....so we attend long meetings to waste even MORE time at the task.)
