WEEK 37 - Olney,MD, 9-09-06: Operation Infinite FReep: FREEPERS HAVE DOUBLE THE SIDEWALK EXPOSURE

Posted on 09/13/2006 5:30:26 PM PDT by trooprally

Species8472 was our Guest of Honor this past weekend. He is from Alaska and was in Olney for the morning Rapid Transformation Force FReep and the regularly scheduled 3PM FReep.

We had some time between the RTF FReep and the 3PM FReep and we all had a great time talking about Alaska. It was neat looking at his pics of Alaska, especially the one of him shoveling the snow off his ROOF!!! The roofs in Alaska have steeply pitched roofs so snow falls of of them easier. Species8472 gets 600-1000 FEET of snow a year. So I can't complain about the 3 inches we get in the D.C. area.

Honor Roll for this FReep: Species8472, Apple Blossom, BMWcyle and daughter, Cindy_True_Supporter (CTS) Lurker Bill, [Mrs] Trooprally ([Mrs] T), Legionnaires Glen and Halsey, and myself.

For new readers to this thread, Glen is an Iwo Jima Vet and Halsey is a Korean War Vet. They and [Mrs] T belong to the same local Post. Also, pictures were taken by [Mrs] T.

Of course we had the local mascot (BELOW) out this afternoon. He has not been around for a while because its been too hot. He pranced around for a little, then dancing, he crossed in front of our group and back to the store.

With all the signs that we hold on the moonbats old side, someone still can't read, or take the time to read. After 30+ weeks people just assume that the moonbats are still on the other corner. Here is Apple Blossom's report on the soldier (BELOW AFTER APPLE BLOSSOM'S REPORT)

"I recognized this gentleman from many FReeps ago when he stopped over to tell us how much he didn't like those who protested the war. He expressed his appreciation for our being on the corner to oppose them, and wished he'd seen more of that after Viet Nam.

Last Saturday I approached him by saying, "You're a Viet Nam vet, aren't you?" He said that he was. He was a little upset and wanted to know about the Marine flag on the other corner. So he knew who was supposed to be on that corner and that they didn't support the troops. What he didn't know was that they didn't like being opposed or having Mr. Bull Horn show up, so they moved their time hoping we wouldn't be there. I told him to read the signs "This corner under new patriotic management", etc. I explained that we took over that corner since the moonbats changed their time, but that we still come at our usual time in the afternoon.

He explained that he had been a seabee in Viet Nam, and they went in with the Marines. He went back to his truck to get a shirt that was covered with patches for each year he was there (4 years). Plus all of his service ribbons which included 2 purple hearts. After that he had 22 years with the secret service.

He said Iraq is the same kind of mess that we had in Viet Nam and we never should have gone in, but now that we are there, we need to give all the support we can to move toward victory. He said seeing that flag on that corner when he knew who used to be there really got his "dander" up. After I explained again that we were the good guys he thanked me for setting him straight and calming him down."

BELOW LEFT:Species8472 BELOW RIGHT: CTS

BELOW: Main Southwest Corner with banners. From left to right: CTS, Apple Blossom, Daughter and Species8472. We'll be glad when the pols signs are taken down. They were a distraction and made it hard to read our signs. There will be fewer signs in the General Election so we can take a little time to attach our signs to them.

BELOW: Legionnaires Halsey & Glen on the left flank of our original Southwest corner.

AND NOW OUR NEWLY ACQUIRED NORTHEAST CORNER: BELOW LEFT: Myself on the right flank. BELOW RIGHT: Lurker Bill with new, brighter sign and BMWcyle manning the center and left flank.

We also had a first this afternoon. There are 4 Metro bus drivers that regularly go past us on their routes. Two usually honk and wave at us. This week one of the other two finally gave us a thumbs down. It took her 37 weeks to get a back bone. We got numerous other thumbs down today but not much more.

This far out ways the numerous honks, waves, clapping and yells of "Yeaaaa" and "Thank You" that we get on a weekly bases.

Olney - What a great place to FReep

REMEMBER
Next Saturday, same place, Georgia Avenue, MD Rte. 97 and MD Rte. 108 in Olney
Same time, 3 PM to 4:30 PM

As always, the D.C. Chapter's rules for protesting will be in effect. Briefly, they are: No violence, no profanity, no racism, no provocations, obey the law and treat all law enforcement officers with respect.

D.C. Chapter's real big SUPPORT THE TROOPS RALLY for September 23,2006. On this thread are numerous hotels and directions, so look through the posts.

Cindy Sheehan will not personally be ther but Code Pink will be. FRee Republics rally last year was a success for such short notice. Now you have advance notice. The troops need to see that we support them. They are getting tired of the driveby media throwing mud on everything they do.

Please send This pdf Flyer to others. Print out (In Profile) the following flyer and distribute. Flyer compliments of \/\/ayne, Thanks.

RE: Olney FReep -

We also need good crowds at Olney the next several weeks to help cover both corners. If you can make it, we would appreciate your presence. It might be a little dull without the moonbats there unless you are part of the RTF.

At least you know all the waves and honking are for us and that is invigorating.

If you live in northern VA and want a short cut to Olney, See Post 39 Here. It's an easy 20 minute drive from the American Legion Bridge.

A special Thanks to BufordP for enhancing the original plain type directions.

The Archive of Olney FReeps is here or in the LINKS section of Trooprally's ABOUT Page.

"This far out ways the numerous honks, waves, clapping and yells of "Yeaaaa" and "Thank You" that we get on a weekly bases."

Should have been written:

"This is far out weighed by the numerous honks, waves, clapping and yells of "Yeaaaa" and "Thank You" that we get on a weekly bases."

And your report was unedited except for 4 words. Way to go. Maybe you can take over for Helen Thomas once the croaks, er, retires.

Thanks for the report.
