September 13, 2006 -- WASHINGTON - Taliban terror leaders who had gathered for a funeral - and were secretly being watched by an eye-in-the-sky American drone - dodged assassination because U.S. rules of engagement bar attacks in cemeteries, according to a shocking report. U.S. intelligence officers in Afghanistan are still fuming about the recent lost opportunity for an easy kill of Taliban honchos packed in tight formation for the burial, NBC News reported.

WE have never acted like these animals in any of our wars.
Ever heard of Dresden?

All I know is our Armed Forces deserve better than to called on to fight a war while they're hamstrung by PC. I don't know if that was the case here, but if it was....I won't print the rest of what I'm thinking.

I agree and all I know for sure is if this story happened while Clinton was Pres., many people on here would have no trouble believing it and would be calling for Clinton's scalp.

The point of this conversation isn't whether we can follow and kill more later. It's that the NEXT TIME, the results will be the same.
And, the same after that and the same after that and the same after that.
This event highlights the larger problem of politically correct warfare.
You can't win a politically correct war.
War is not a sporting event. It is the most horrible of human enterprises but if you're going to engage in war then, by God, engage in war.

We have to stop playing by these ridiculous Lord of Queensbury rules, especially when our enemy would
not grant us the same degree of civility. Either we're in a war for our very survival, or
we are not.
As of now, our men and women are being killed and maimed for following the orders of those who do not have the courage to do what it takes to win this war for once and for all. After Vietnam, as a nation, we swore we would not let bureaucrats fight a war ever again. How soon we forget . . .
To: TomGuy
The irony just struck me.
We can't make the Taliban dead if there are any dead people around.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

So it is Bush's fault that the Hellfire missile couldn't take out the Marxists at the Wellstone funeral?
hehe....

And this isn't about separating ourselves from the barbarians. The real barbarity is to the families of the soldiers who will be killed by these vermin when we allow those who would kill them to openly congregate with total impunity. My thoughts exactly. My friends and classmates are putting their lives on the line for a government too cowardly to close with the enemy and kill him.
To: A.Hun
I, however, have no problem whatever using a cluster bomb on them as soon as they step foot out of the cemetery.
Let me get this straight.
You don't mind killing live Taliban. You just object to killing dead people. Have I got it right?

This is almost unbelievable......how on earth could this happen? It is hard to put into words my anger concerning this, especially since my good friend's brother-in-law just went to Iraq.......

Nah...President Bush just didn't want to hurt the small handful of true conservatives that actually attended the funerally.

This is almost unbelievable..... I saw this and could only shake my head. I am beyond anger, I just can't believe it.
Have we learned nothing?
I can only hope that Rummy and the admin will change the 'rules of engagement' and tell the libs to take a hike. This, however, should NOT have been an issue - we should've taken care of this long ago!

I feel like our government does not deserve the fine men and women in uniform. I cannot believe we are turning the War on Terror into Vietnam, 1965, with MacNamara in charge . . . this is turning my stomach.

Rummy and the admin That's assuming they're responsible...who decides rules of engagement the NY Post headline made it sound like it is in the hands of Generals ("nicey-nice brass"). If so, it's time for a reassignment to Alaska.

The only gravesite desecration you should object to is filling OUR veteran's cemeteries with more bodies by adhering to ridiculous rules of engagement like this one. Our men and women in uniform deserve more, don't you think?
To: Hemingway's Ghost
Ther are always ROE's. Just as I don't like supposed Christians calling our soldiers fag lovers at their funerals, I don't like desecration of cemeteries.
