Notoriously independent-minded Rhode Island Republican Sen. Lincoln Chafee confronts stiff opposition Tuesday in his bid for a second term, the latest race with a moderate targeted by his own party's hard-line critics.
While a total of nine states and Washington, D.C., were holding primary elections, Chafee's race is drawing the most attention as another test of the depth of anti-incumbent sentiment and the erosion of the political middle ground.
Update courtesy of RobFromGa in #70:
Here are websites where you can find the results for eight of the nine primaries being held today. The link for Vermont may not be working just yet. I believe it should be up and running by this evening.
I agree with everything you say except Laffey winning in November. I can't stand Chafee.
These numbers are from CD 1. If Mfume is going to win the Eastern Shore is not going to be given the credit.
Listening to radio in MD - this is funny. The voting machines shut down at 8pm, but voting in Montgomery County was kept open til 9pm. Now people are saying the provisional ballots that were to be used the last hour, ran out, and people had to vote on scraps of paper ...

Of course. We're talking about a dimocrat state aren't we?
The dilemma is that RINOs must win for the 'pubs to hold power. In many states, the way for RINOs to win is to get RINOier.

I agree with you, however the RNC is saying that they won't put any money into the race if Laffey - the conservative - pulls the upset.
C-Span2 says 54-46 Chafee with 27% in. Where are they getting that?

If Mfume is carrying 20% from the Eastern Shore Dems, he may have a shot.
Arizona polls close at 7 p.m. MST, 18 minutes from now.
HI,
I voted but straight Republican....I think Fine might have a better chance against the dem. gangster .....
Don't you just love the 5th district? I went to a few of the meetings but Barbara Carlson ran the show.
Anyone have a corrected web address for Minnesota?
** great to get them all together in one place.**
That's the main reason I posted it this morning -- it had all the elctions together.
(Even though it was an AP story.)
LOL!
"I agree with everything you say except Laffey winning in November"
Ain't you going to have to wait to Batlimore come in for the Maryland race?
I'd like to see some of that money in OR too, to defeat the dim governor, Kulongoski.
