Notoriously independent-minded Rhode Island Republican Sen. Lincoln Chafee confronts stiff opposition Tuesday in his bid for a second term, the latest race with a moderate targeted by his own party's hard-line critics.
While a total of nine states and Washington, D.C., were holding primary elections, Chafee's race is drawing the most attention as another test of the depth of anti-incumbent sentiment and the erosion of the political middle ground.
Update courtesy of RobFromGa in #70:
Here are websites where you can find the results for eight of the nine primaries being held today. The link for Vermont may not be working just yet. I believe it should be up and running by this evening.

Dear red meat conservative,
Why do you ask?
Thanks,

Just voted for John Gard here in WI, who's vying for Congressman's Mark Green's open seat.
Just got polled by a supposidly independant company....It was spewed against Baron Hill (D)....Didn't even mention Mike Sodrel (R). Thank God we finally got rid of Hill. Hope to keep it that way.
You may have to really work hard to get out the vote for Laffey, but the two mentioned above from Indiana proves it's worth it.
I'm from Baltimore County and am anxiously awaiting the results of that contest so I was just wondering if you are from the part of Anne Arundal that is in CD-3
Dear Clintonfatigued,
Frankly, I'm not sure I'd be very happy if Mr. Mfume won the nomination.
First, he could very well win the election. Mr. Steele is far from a shoe-in. The thought of Sen. Crazy &Fuming is loathsome.
Second, it would represent a further degradation of the Democrat Party in Maryland.
Much as I hate the Democrat Party in Maryland, it's wounding to think they could go that low.

Dear red meat conservative,
LOL! You could live practically in Pennsylvania and be part of the MD 3rd Congressional District!
Yes, that's my district, and yes, I voted for Mr. White.

I voted for Graf, but the rest of my family stayed home. I e-mailed them this morning, but still a no go.
Yep, not only do the dead vote in Baltimore, sometimes they vote twice.
Moderate versus hardline in RI, and somebody thinks Fox News is conservative?
Is anyone expecting that RINO Steve Huffman will actually win the nomination?
Yeah, this district was gerrymandered like crazy. The thing is that it benefits us. Prior to redistricting Gore won it 65-35, after redistricting Kerry won 54-45. Also Ehrlich actually won the district in 02 so this is very winnable. John White is a solid conservative with a solid campaign staff that has a great chance. I just hope he gets past the nut RINO Applebaum from my part of the district.
Sad but true.
Dear red meat conservative,
Did you hear about the dust-up in my state legislative district, District 33A?

Hmm, Dem primaries, precincts run by Dems...it's going to be hard to pin this one on Bush. Is there a Diebold connection at all?
Do you mind saying who you voted for in the County Exec race? And what legislative district are you in?
Well, not too many localities in MD that aren't 'Rat run...
I didn't hear anything. Did the redistricting benefit you?
Dear ForOurFuture,
No, I don't mind. My impression is that perhaps Mr. Bisset has the best chance to win, so I voted for him.
I'm in 33A.
