The architect that designed the Twin Towers was contracted to design 1/2 scale the Bank of Oklahoma building in downtown Tulsa. It is called the BoK Building and is a dead ringer for the Twin Towers. Since I grew up in New Jersey and drove through Lower Manhatten I get a lump in my throat when the BoK comes into view.

There's a east-west interstate that goes from Sand Springs into Tulsa. As you head toward Tulsa with the sun setting, the BoK Building gives off this amazing orange glow from the sun reflecting off the aluminum (like the one in the second picture). My throat gets tight everytime I come over that hill on 244 and remember the WTC Towers.

The aluminum reminds me of this dipstick that keeps posting on the Free Republic about bombs destroying the Towers...

The WTC Towers were not built like other high rise structures. The support is found on the outer skeleton of aluminum (Melting Point, 660°C) rather than the traditional iron high rise structures (Melting point ~1510ºC). The heat from the burning jet fuel mixed with the burning debris inside the building billowed by high winds at that height certainly weakened the structure to the point of failure. Further, the truss system employed on the floors added to implosion. When the airplanes crashed into the buildings the fire and the damage to the outer shell left the towers vulnerable to collapse. Add to this, the fact that gravity, weight, wind, heat, were twisting the structures, it was inevitable that the towers would collapse. Experts reviewing the tapes and wreckage found that the first tower lasted longer because the plane hit the middle. The second tower fell quickly because the plane hit at a more severe angle, at the corner.

FWIW. If you run into some lunatic that buys into conspiracy theories, let them know this information. The islamic terrorists killed our family members, friends, neighbors, co-workers, and fellow citizens NOT some kook shadow government.
