9/11/06 [NY Times: We are Liberal Wankers]
New York Times ^ | 9/11/06 | NY Times Editors

Posted on 09/10/2006 11:37:11 PM PDT by Enchante

The time when we felt drawn together, changed by the shock of what had occurred, lasted long beyond the funerals, ceremonies and promises never to forget. It was a time when the nation was waiting to find out what it was supposed to do, to be called to the task that would give special lasting meaning to the tragedy that it had endured.

But the call never came. Without ever having asked to be exempt from the demands of this new post-9/11 war, we were cut out. Everything would be paid for with the blood of other people’s children, and with money earned by the next generation. Our role appeared to be confined to waiting in longer lines at the airport. President Bush, searching the other day for an example of post-9/11 sacrifice, pointed out that everybody pays taxes.

That pinched view of our responsibility as citizens got us tax cuts we didn’t need and an invasion that never would have occurred if every voter’s sons and daughters were eligible for the draft. With no call to work together on some effort greater than ourselves, we were free to relapse into a self- centeredness that became a second national tragedy. We have spent the last few years fighting each other with more avidity than we fight the enemy.

This whiny editorial is just what one would expect from the pathetic pukes at the NY Times, but still it is absolutely astonishing for the commemoration of 9/11. They have no comprehension of the fact that the "call" to all US citizens DID come, on 9/11 and many times after, and that the liberal whiners exemplified by this pitiful editorial failed abjectly to answer the call. They would rather sit around whining and wailing, sipping their "pink cosmopolitan" cocktails, than actually exert themselves even slightly, even in words, to help to win the War on Terror in any and every way they can.

The "call" did come, and the NY Slimes bozos once again failed to answer to it.

...as citizens got us tax cuts we didn’t need...

The terrorists want to ruin our economy. The tax cuts help grow our economy at a tremendous pace after the terrorist attacks.

Those tax cuts are a vital part of the War on Terrorists.

Yes, the troops bear the brunt of the effort, but there are many things that individuals and groups have done -- and organizations such as the NYT could have done -- to support the troops and their Commander-in-Chief. Instead, the NYT -- and the rest of the Democrat Parthy -- elected to hype the negatives, omit the positives, and complain until the cows come home.

While they were shamelessly pumping for the "Not In My Name" crowd PRIOR to afghanistan...

Every time I hear a Lib say we should concentrate on Afghanistan, I take GREAT DELIGHT in reminding them that libs were against THAT war, too.....

Just more Instilling Fear and Divisiveness.

If we can't get past the partisan bickering and come together as Americans, this war is lost.

Democrats, you are out of power. Deal with it. Grow some spine and join the fight.

Republicans, this fight is long over due. Give the President the means and support to fight it. Give our Military what is needed, weapons, manpower, intelligence, whatever, they will win for us.

New York Times, ACLU, LA Times, get on our side or shut your doors! Your dividing the nation while at war as well as your insistence on only reporting bad news of our Military should be listed as treason.

Kerry, Murtha, Kennedy, Pelosi, Sheehan, McCain, Chafee and any other congresscritter not willing to support this fight, retire. Get out of our way. This war is needed and must be won. It won't be won by Democrats or Republicans, but by Americans and other nations that wake up and see the danger we all are facing.

Victory will only be assured if we all pull together and block these loud mouthed naysayers.

Unbelievable! They need to start taking more responsibility for themselves, wake up and smell the Jihad, take action to reduce their personal and collective use of foreign oil and cross the river and sound the alarm.

Or move to France.

Everything would be paid for with the blood of other people’s children

This statement doesn't make any sense. Who's children paid the price? What other people? Is he saying that no Americans have lost loved ones in the war?

Typical liberal hyperactive-emotional tripe.

Rarely have I read anything as utterly lacking in substance or meaning as this editorial.
It says nothing.

This is a New York Times editorial? My, how the mighty have fallen.

Listing the sins of the Bush administration may help to clarify how we got here..

Excuse me....Muslim Hijackers from well to do families, murdered 2800 people in the name of Allah and Islam...that's how we got here.

...as citizens got us tax cuts we didn’t need...

Cut the "We" crap NY Times...

Because "We" = "You" + "Them" (I.E. other people)

So because no one stopping "You" from giving "Your" money......

When you say "We" you really mean "Them" and "There money"... It not about "You" giving to what "You" want

It about forcing "Them" to give to what "You" want...

Or (so a Lib will listen) as the brother's say on the street ... "That dam White of you"

"We have spent the last few years fighting each other with more avidity than we fight the enemy."

Quite by accident, this is the only honest statement in this puerile editorial.... but it only reflects the vicious and depraved reality of the political left, which is far more willing to "go to war" against the Bush administration and eviiiilll Republicans, big bad oil, etc. than against Al Qaeda and Islamo-fascists. Yes, the LEFTISTS are far more eager to fight domestic political warfare against anyone even hinting of conservative ideas than they are willing to support and enact the policies and strenuous efforts needed to defeat jihadists worldwide.

The "editorialist" is referring to the Cindy Sheehan's of the world. The mothers and fathers of our soldiers, who chose to join the war effort on their own volition, oftentimes returning for 3 tours in Iraq.

Of course, the fact that they did this of their own volition is meaningless to the rats at the Times. Our men and women in the military are just the rabble dumb enough to fight in this war, and I guess their parents are just victims for having given birth to such foolish, innocent children that George Bush just sent to the slaughterhouse. Surely no competent and enlightened invididual would EVER make this decision. *rolls eyes* /liberal-speak

This may be the most treasonous, pathetic, and disgusting editorial I've ever read. And herein lies the dilemma of the left. They like to say that they support the troops, but when they undermine the war effort, they undermine the war that the troops are choosing to engage in. And so they say that they are supporting them while undermining all that they stand for. Only in the "minds" of these slimebags...

I agree.

By the way, how pretentious does an editorial writer have to be to use the phrase, "with more avidity"? These New York Times people masturbate way, way too much.

Forget all that - - it's "the sins of the Bush administration" that you need to focus on.
Your cooperation will be appreciated. Thank you.
