I didn't know if there was a west coast version of this thread. It didn't make sense to post on a show that was almost over on the East Coast.

Excellent post and right on the money. The memories are kind of foggy for me.

So, ya think Katie al Q'ouric will be dressed in black tomorrow? Not for the heroes and the innocent victimes of 9/11, but for the Beast's vanishing chance at the People's House.

Your number 2 point is the one that most angers me and has for a long time. Everytime some Democrat says that we are NOT safer then before 9-11, that is a direct slap in the face of every man and woman at the FBI, NSA, CIA, Military Intelligence, Federal Marshalls, Border Control, and every other law enforcement and intelligence agency in the country that BUSTS THEIR BUTTS DAILY for little pay and less appreciation for what they do to protect us from another attack. There are so many attacks that have been prevented by the hard work and dedication of those men and women in all those agencies that we'll NEVER even know about.

They ALL deserve FAR better then Democrats slapping them in the face and saying that we're not safer now then we were before 9-11 happened, just for political gian. THAT is disgusting and REALLY p****s me off. 9-11 should be a day of calling the FBI, NSA, CIA, any intelliegence industry related office or law enforcement office and thanking them for all the things they do to protect us that DON'T make the news. For every story that makes the news of how they've protected us, there are easily thousands that we DON'T hear about. And I'm sick and tired of the total disrespect that Democrats show towards the thousands of Americans in the intelligence and law enforcement industry who bust their a***s and put their lives on the line to protect spoiled rotten Americans, especially the Democrats, who sit in their cushy chairs and then have the brass to insult them and say we're not safer then five years ago. Well I sure don't see any planes flying into buildings the past five years, and no mushroom clouds. So it seems to me that we're a LOT safer then on 9-11. Liberals are just selfish ungrateful disrespectful b******d

They took out one major piece, consisting of a night raid that never happened, and they eliminated a couple of references to Clinton being distracted by the impeachment, all of which actually helps them in their battle with the Dems.

At the same time, one of their impeachment lifts results in an edit that actually makes Clinton look worse than merely distracted.

The narrative survives, and it's a narrative that involves the eternal battle between those who do the work and those who push the paper. Unless there's some sudden shift in point of view, it's going be a story that trashes the brass no matter what administration they're in. I thought it held up fine.

I guess so. If they shot at Clinton pics before, I can only imagine what they do to Bush's pics with what he'd sent the military to do to them.

Is this the same John Miller who was the ABC newsman who interviewed UBL?

You're not even making any sence. I'm not talking about hunches or flickers or glimmers. I'm talking about good intelligence from weeks of surveiling indivduals, and who they talk to and when and for how long and where they've been, etc so on. I'm not talking about some lame gut feeling or some voodoo crap like that. I'm talking about REAL intelligence with documents and photos and hard evidence to back up a reality that an individual has information about an impending attack, and the other individuals are in the wind, and can't be found because the attack is about to occur. If you have a problem smacking Abdul around to find his buddies who are in the process of moving to carry out the attack, well. You've got a problem. I've grateful for the person who smacks someone like that around in the final hours before an attack and thereby stops the attack and keeps me and my wife and family safe. God bless them. You can play symantics all you want to. But what I'm saying is logical and rational and very clear.

Yeah, Massoud really shines in this. I'm glad he is getting the recognition he deserves.

Agreed!!

I've often wondered if those 3,000, that died on 9/11, were given the choice, pre-9/11, to either give up some of their right to privacy OR the right to know what was going to happen to them---which would they choose? Would they choose "privacy" or going home to their families?

Now, it is a moot point--for them--but what about the rest of us? Which will we choose?

Don't flame me, but honestly, I wouldn't feel quite so horrible about it being President Bush. I've thought about it a bit, and here is why I think:

When they shot at Clinton, they were mocking his weakness. Which is a horrible, sickening thing for all Americans, so it bothered really bothered me.

President Bush has taken on this fight, so they are striking out at him in defense, which means we are in a position of strength. They fear us. That is ok with me.

Does that make sense?

I'll second that.

I am ashamed at how many decent people we have let down in this war in the past.

Thank God that this documentary came out--maybe now EVERYONE will realize and discuss how President Bush inherited an absolute national security MESS from Clinton--thanks to Clinton's complete dereliction of duty as President.

This is what our pastor talked about today. 9/11 was Clinton's "Ishmael" - a total and complete mess resulting from lack of patience and wisdom.

I think covert vs. clandestine are two different levels of secrecy and plausible deniability.

No it can't. They're even above the miliary when it comes to being unsung heros in my opinion. The awesome miltiary we have at least comes home in uniform and gets a parade and recognition as being patriots that protected the country in combat. The FBI and NSA and other intelligence and law enforcment personnel, they never get recognized for all the attacks they prevent. But the Democrats sure bust their chops on a daily basis as not doing enough. If they ever ALL took a week off, we'd see in no unceratain terms just how safe we are because of those hard working men and women. Then who'd protect us? The Democrats? Yeah right. Whatver. The only thing Democrats are dispositioned to protect is their political power, no matter what the cost.

It makes total sense. I've said many times, I'd rather be feared than respected any day of the week. As a fellow FReeper posted in Latin in the Rush thread a few days ago:

"Oderint dum metuant" - Let them hate so long as they fear.

Yes I think Pres. Bush will take his lumps tomorrow night as the point of how unaware we were of the reality of this threat is driven home.

Probably. But I don't believe hearing anything from the White House or the Congressional Republicans threatening to pull ABC's broadcasting license. chirp...chirp...chirp.

Nope. I didn't.

I see them as super patriots. There is very little else that would make a person go through that sort of thing.

Going home every single time. Screw a little privacy. I've been checked at airports half of the 20+ times I've flown since 9-11 and it's just fine with me. Some of my e-mails or calls could have been checked for all I care, I don't do anything I'm ashamed of and protecting the country is more than a little random privacy.

And like I've said since this started after 9-11. I can get over being inconvenienced pretty quick. I won't get over being dead anytime soon, so by all means, inconvenience me.
