The horrors!!!
Link to the longer, detailed NYT article:
At a Secret Interrogation, Dispute Flared Over Tactics
"In his early interviews, Mr. Zubaydah had revealed what turned out to be important information, identifying Khalid Shaikh Mohammed from a photo on a hand-held computer as the chief planner of the Sept. 11 attacks. Mr. Zubaydah also identified Jose Padilla, an American citizen who has been charged with terrorism-related crimes."
Looks like we got vital info from him, which may well have prevented major attacks, but I guess the NYT would rather if we didn't even make this terrorist mastermind uncomfortable, and let thousands of innocent die instead.
The NYT should be prosecuted for treason -- there is plenty of proof that they are continuously giving aid and comfort to our enemies, by trying to undermine the War on Terror.

I don't see why these terrorists would give up any information at all. It is well known we will not harm them.

Torture just isn't what it used to be.
Now it's being made barely uncomfortable or humiliated that's considered torture.

Just put a TV outside the cell and play MTV all day, now that's torture!

The horrors!!! Could be, depending on the band. I know if I had to listen to Jefferson Airplane's "We Built This City" more than 5 times straight I'd be ready for the rubber room.

Leave this piece of sh** in a room with me for half an hour and I'll teach him about torture.
Now where did I put my blow torch and those bolt cutters?

If these nitwit reporters didn't hate America they could have written the lead like this:
Top al Qaeda operative Abu Zubaydah ratted out his fellow Islamists with only minimal persuasion from interrogators. "All we did was put him in a cold room and play loud music for a few hours and he started singing like a canary." said FBI agents familiar with the case.
To: Jeff Chandler
Sure he is! All illegal combatants caught out of uniform should be executed. Think about how many civilians and US troops get killed by these guys operating amongst civilians. Currently there is no penalty.

I wonder if this is another misguided attempt by the NY Times to show how evil BushCo is? Millions of American's won't be able to sleep thinking that a mass murderer was uncomfortable in their name.
