As we all know tomorrow is the fifth anniversary of the September 11th attacks. While there are many choices of what to view, including real time 9/11 rebroadcasts on certain networks, I would humbly suggest another choice.
Other than the very beginning United 93 is filmed in a real time manner matching minute-for-minute what is believed to have occured on that fateful flight (buttressed by phone calls and cockpit recordings).
Here's the plan:
Since most video stores are not open at 8 in the morning rent United 93 tonight. Pop the movie into your dvd player around 8:15am and be ready to hit "Play Movie" at 8:22am. The movie is 1 hour and 41 minutes from beginning until the screen goes black (marking the impact moment) so if you start at 8:22am the movie should be syncronized to end at 10:03am which is the official time given for the the crash five years earlier.
I think it would be a very powerful way to commemorate the brave passengers that fought to the end like any other true red-blooded American.
Till then...take care.
I had bought the movie on DVD a few days ago and watched it Friday night even though I was going to try and hold out until September 11.
I did see the documentary by the brothers a few years ago.
Here's one I posted the other night--you can watch it in 6 parts on You Tube if you haven't seen it. Originally aired on TLC. Scroll down the thread for the actual links. It's about the second plane to hit the towers.

Meaning no disrepect personally, and I don't know if it is just me, but I find this disturbing in a voyeuristic sort of way. I would prefer to attend a memorial service, and reflect on what needs to be done moving forward. There is a great deal that neds to be done.
Thanks for the link. I will check it out.
I can understand that some people may feel the same. For me it is important to summon the same feelings I had that very day. Many of the networks have conspiciously cut out many of the original videos, images of 9/11 (with a limited exception this year) in an attempt to shelter us from remembering what we are up against. I refuse, As uncomfortable as it is I try to constantly remind myself of the evil we are battling. I forced myself to watch the Nick Berg execution video, the Sadaam torture videos, the videos of people jumping from the towers, etc. so as to never forget what it is that defines our enemies - pure evil.
I saw this excellent movie a month ago on the big screen. Very moving production and without the aid of hollywood stars. Much better than WTC with the stars, IMHO.
I had seen the Discovery's Channel last night on what went on in the Twin Towers during the time they were attack.

I thought that was a great docudrama. Very moving.
