New Orleans Suffers From New Blast of Violence
The Bayou Buzz ^ | 9/10/2006 | Staff

New Orleans has been hit by another rash of violence this weekend. In the past 24 hours, there have been 8 shootings.

The shootings are occurring in areas that are away from the tourist areas.

In a press conference, two weeks ago, Chief Warren Riley said the City was deploying some methods that were confidential to reduce crime. However, he would not discuss those methods in fear that those secrets would be revealed and the criminals would not be deterred once they were armed with knowledge.

New Orleans is seeing more crime due to some of its former residents returning and due to drug trade. Some of the crime has been domestic, in nature. Part of the problem for the high return of the crime rate is the entire criminal justice system is in shambles.

Next Saturday, the City will hold a Crime summit. The purpose is to take a holistic approach of the problem but devise specific solutions. With eight shootings in 24 hours, New Orleans needs solutions, fast.

You sure nailed the problem! Me thinks the storm did not go deep enough to clean things up.

We need to provide weapons to New Orlaeans and give the thugs all the guns and ammo they want. Maybe they will kill each other. They will be better equiped to to do it and do it quicker.

I would make it a goal to find the best doctors available, in a different area. I don't believe that the stress of the situation would be healthy for him.

what a sh#t hole....

I was asked about going to a convention in New Orleans to show "support" to the city.... after I stopped laughing I informed my director that the only money I'd spend in New Orleans would be for ammo, kevlar and cab fare out of the dump.

Probably in the same areas in which the shootings have always occurred.

On a per capita basis, LA would have needed 260 murders to equal that of New Orleans.

Naw. Just dynamite all of the levies at once and let nature take it's course.

I thought Rove and Bush and Halliburton were in charge of the levee stuff. The NOLA idiots would just kill themselves and NOT bust the levees. We need both.

What can you do against monkey butlers armed with King Cobras??? Oh, wait a minute, I think that was an episode of the Simpsons.
