UT Arlington Students, "to burn N. Korean flag and Kim Jong-il's effigy"
Students at University of Texas, Arlington, notified the school authorities that, on Sept. 11, the fifth anniversary of 9/11 attack, they will hold a rally in which they will burn N. Korean and Iranian flags, along with the effigies of N. Korea leader Kim Jong-il and Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
Texas local papers reported that students want 'to hold a rally for one and a half hour in front of the main campus building since N. Korea and Iran have become deadly threats to U.S. and world security.'
Freshman Lance Kennedy, the spokesman for the students, said, "We hold the rally to protest that illegal nuclear development by N. Korea and Iran is threatening U.S. and the world, and want to highlight its danger."
The school authorities responded, "We will guarantee freedom of expression but may not allow burning flags of foreign countries. We are persuading students to change different means of expression for their protest.

I tried to locate the texas paper which reported this news, but couldn't find it so far. If anybody can locate the link, please let me know.
Ping!
It'll be interesting to see if the UT administration allows this.
What kind of Orwellian nonsense is that? I bet they wouldn't have any problem with people burning the American flag.
Guess they'll have to burn the UT Pres in effigy instead.
Here is the newspaper article:

Longer article for you. The only issue with it was that it made the student with the Texas flag look like patriot....he was also the one who tore it up and spit on it. Shows you how the media spins situations.
Dear TigerLikesRooster:
I am not sure if this screen name is you ... but i believe you might be Lance Kennedy. If not, accept my apologies.
This email is written with regard to the flag burning and protest on the UT Arlington campus that you lead a couple of weeks ago (if this IS you).
I heard about your protest just today, and I also happen to know of you through your Mom. I am proud of you and your friends guts and willingness to take a stand for right thinking. I wish we had about a million of you scattered on every campus in the US! Don't stop doing what is right, no matter what, and don't back down from being bold. It takes your passion, your heart, and your spirit to bring back right thinking in our nation, and especially to our students on campuses. Thank God for the fact that you have brains, and don't follow the crowd, as do 95% of your peers.
I do want to mention something that is on my mind, however. For whatever it is worth, "Freedom of Expression" is not in the Constitution, although freedom of speech is. So every time our own flag is burned on our soil ... in my opinion, it is akin to treason. The Founders would have lynched anyone who did such a thing. I am certain, that to them, this act was unthinkable, and NOT covered by any constitutional protection. People can justify and say that it is protected all day, today, but they get by with this, only because our whole culture has changed in the last 40 years, with God being taken out of our schools and government. In addition, virtually NO ONE studies history anymore (true history, not revisionist history), so improper ideas and mindsets can flourish in our type of culture. Keep in mind that these same Godless folks also say that separation of church and state exists, too, and that idea (as they interpret it) also happens to be a fabrication, and is nowhere to be found in our Constitution. (Neither is "right to privacy" ... a term made up to justify abortion)
A rebellious, defiant attitude against the US rarely showed its face before the 60's, although a few ideas were simmering here and there. The fact remains that if the founders were convicting people of blasphemy (against Christ) in courts in our nation's early years (and they were!), then their whole culture and attitude would not have suffered any fools who dared burn our flag. Especially when they knew just how sacred and precious it was, and how hard they fought for our right to display it as our nation's symbol. (Remember, they had just providentially defeated the greatest army in the world, with only the aid of a small untrained army of rag tag farmers and merchants)
I also believe that it is important that we do not stoop to the level of the Islamic fascists. In fact, in a recent letter of protest to Rosie O'Donnell...who said that radical Christianity was as dangerous as radical Islam is to America ... I stated that one of the many things that separates us is that you don't see Christians protesting by burning flags, effigies, and foaming at the mouth in the streets. Christians may protest, but not with these terribly hateful actions attached. THey usually protest by letters, phone calls, or by peaceful protests on the street.
And there is just something about flag and effigy burning. I believe the countries you protested against deserved it (and you could add Venezuela now to that list) ... but it just seems to suggest a mob mentality of violence and death when those symbolic items are burnt, not to mention a deeply powerful gesture of disrespect. It's one thing to lawfully protest, another thing altogether to show deep hatred, murderous disrepect and defiance ... which is what they do to us every day in Middle Eastern cities.
Now, do we want their leaders dead and their type of governments overthrown? YES!! But do we want to appear like their followers do, when they run rabid in the roads? Never. The Bible says "Do not even put on the appearance of evil".
I think it is important to keep our behavior above theirs, so that we can always be accurate when we say that we are TRULY different ... to the Rosie O'Donnells of the world. But in the future, when the time comes for war ... and when necessary ... then we can bomb them back to the stone age ... and this time, for real.
It's all about remaining self controlled, slow to anger (and thus, not given to the demonic realm of psychotic frenzy, as Islamofascists are). But in time, and when the proper time comes ... the sleeping, gentle giant will await and take its proper course.
"One should never incur the wrath of mild and conservative men. They are slow to anger, but once aroused, they are notoriously difficult to placate."
No matter what ... I am proud of your zeal, your passion, and your love for what is right!! Keep up the good work. Perhaps it was called for to do what you did .. to gain attention. I just hope that it will not become a habit as the practice of conservative Christian men.
I have a website ... thenewpatriots.com, that you might enjoy reading someday. It's all about our true American History.
God Bless.
Hi, please direct your praise to the screen name LanceKennedy. He is the real one.:)
