I WAS standing just down from the radio station 3RRR at ... in Melbourne when my phone rang.... I flipped open the batphone ... and found out that Steve Irwin was dead.
I swore loudly as the moment fused, possibly forever, into memory.
Something similar happened millions of times over in this country alone. Perhaps hundreds of millions of times across the world.
You almost certainly remember exactly what you were doing when you heard. ...
Not everyone is mourning, however. ...
... Germaine Greer pulled on her redundant fright mask and charged into print to bitchslap and rake at the dead father of two for his arrogance, his stupidity and his wanton cruelty to those poor dumb beasts ill-equipped by evolution to make a fast enough getaway when they heard the approaching thunder of Irwin's boots.
... Greer championed the parrot that had once bitten him and scolded his millions of fans: "Every creature he brandished at the camera was in distress."
For the childless former Celebrity Big Brother contestant, the distress of Irwin's family was nothing when measured against the rightful vengeance of the animal world. Less a harridan than a poorly sketched caricature of a harridan, she would be easy to dismiss as some unwashed and wretched bag lady who had somehow stumbled on to the opinion pages of The Guardian, were it not for the fact this feral hag does actually speak for a significant minority. ...
In one poisonous discharge of bile, Greer has condensed the ill feelings of a whole class of Australian sophisticates who found Irwin's cartoon imagery uncomfortable and even humiliating, given his global exposure.

Just great :0
answer: No.
Not to detract from his family's loss, I'm afraid mine is also a somewhat empathetic with the feral hag's << .... ocker buffoon man-child .... >> sympathies bump!
Never could comprehend the world's fascination with Queensland's cultural-cringe-causing "crikey" crying crocodile crackpot.
Funny, I compared her to a feral animal on the last thread about her I posted to a few days ago. Feral hag is a perfect description.
And to the people who keep trying to say he wasn't a conservationist, bad role model, etc, his actions and wallet speak louder than any of their words. Clinton could only fantasize about leaving behind such a great legacy.
You have my deepest sympathy.
Here's some comments from people who actually know what they're talking about unlike Greer.
'A Tremendous Loss': Jim Fowler and Jack Hanna Remember Steve Irwin
You know, maybe we just saw different sides of him. I only saw a few episodes of his show, but I found them memorable and fascinating, I couldn't understand how a guy could stay that enthusiastic that long, but when I turned the TV off, I decided I was impressed with that guy and thought the world could use a few more like him. Maybe you saw something different.
In any case, I am sure we both dislike Greer, agree or not with her.
Nicely said!
?
Police have viewed video footage of Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin's final moments and ruled out that he was intimidating or threatening the stingray that killed him.
The people that Greer gives voice to extend far beyond Australia's "sophisticate" class. They infest the universities, the media, and the left wing "elites" of Europe and America.
