JAY [Rockefeller] SAYS America safer WITH SADDAM in power

(CBS) When the Senate Intelligence Committee released a declassified version of its findings this past week, the Republican chairman of the committee, Pat Roberts, left town without doing interviews, calling the report a rehash of unfounded partisan allegations.

Its statements like this one, made Feb. 5, 2003, by then-Secretary of State Colin Powell that have become so controversial, implying Iraq was linked to terror attacks.

"Iraq today harbors a deadly terrorist network headed by abu Musab al-Zarqawi, an associated collaborator of Osama bin Laden and his al Qaeda lieutenants," Powell said.

But after 2 1/2 years of reviewing pre-war intelligence behind closed doors, the lead Democrat on the Intelligence Committee, Sen. John Rockefeller (D-W.V.), who voted for the Iraq War, says the Bush administration pulled the wool over everyone's eyes.

"The absolute cynical manipulation, deliberately cynical manipulation, to shape American public opinion and 69 percent of the people, at that time, it worked, they said 'we want to go to war,'" Rockefeller told CBS News correspondent Sharyl Attkisson. "Including me. The difference is after I began to learn about some of that intelligence I went down to the Senate floor and I said 'my vote was wrong.'"

Rockefeller went a step further. He says the world would be better off today if the United States had never invaded Iraq — even if it means Saddam Hussein would still be running Iraq.

He said he sees that as a better scenario, and a safer scenario, "because it is called the 'war on terror.'"

Fortunately (thanks to President Bush and a few hundred thousand American service members) we will never have to learn the answer to that question.

We went to Iraq to have Iran surrounded on three sides. west Afganistan:
north Turkey:
east Iraq:

While turkey has few if any american troops, they are now member of Nato and are plegged to defend Nato.

Afganistan has 20 thousand american troops that can be turned west if nessessary. We also have bases there now that can be supplied with more troops if need be.

Iraq has 150 thousand troops, and bases available to launch an assault on Iran.

Turkey should hold the line, but wont actively oppose us.

I am not suggesting that we will launch an attack on Iran with troops. That does not seem to be in the cards now. But clearly Iran is the main problem today!

The next country to come under attack will likely be Saudi Arabia. Those that can take their oil off the market will hurt world markets and destroy economies all over the world.

If we were'nt in Iraq we would have a hard time reacting to such an eventuality.

Jay Rockefeller, the son-in-law of Jew hating former Sen. Charles Percy - is another idiotarian Senator from West Virginia.

Thanks for all of that - that was exactly what I had in mind!

Dick Durbin and Jay Rockefeller: senators to Congress representing the best interest of our enemies.

With senators like these, who needs enemies?

As an aside, I'd be interested to learn what kind of relationship they have with 'Air America', 'moveon.org', 'Code Pink' and George Soros - remember, Code Pink (and others I'm sure) actually gave (at least) $6,000 to aid the "insurgents" in Iraq.

Rockefeller is proof of the fact that lack of brains often occurs to progeny of multi-millionaire grandfathers.

Good. We want Democrats to say stupid things like this. Preferably loudly and often.

Believe it or not, he's beginning to even get some flack from the left here about his statement.

Theyre saying he shouldn't have voted for it in the first place.

Looks like he should have kept his mouth shut.
